What an amazing experience for our Year 6 dancers!
This week, our Year 6 Dance crew travelled to the Great Big Dance Off National Grand Final at the New Theatre Oxford, where they performed alongside 30 other schools from across the country.
The children showed exceptional commitment, resilience, and passion throughout their journey to the national final. We could not be prouder of their achievements and the way they represented Hymers.
A big thank you to everyone who supported them along the way and congratulations to all the amazing dancers!

Year 12 enjoyed a fantastic interactive Industry Meets Sixth Form event with Old Hymerians this week.
Entrepreneurs and industry professionals from the fields of Law, Medicine, Marketing, Insurance, Business and IT, shared with the students the career paths that led them to work in a range of international, global and start up organisations.
The event was part of our Hymers Futures programme, which is a key feature of our Sixth Form experience; designed to enhance our students' education by expanding their knowledge and skills beyond the classroom in preparation for their future career. Connecting with Old Hymerians is a fantastic opportunity for students to hear from professionals working in a wide range of sectors and get practical advice and guidance on preparing for their next steps.
The Industry Meets Sixth Form event was a pre-cursor to our planned Hymers CAN! careers and networking events that will kick start in September. Open to students at Hymers and other schools in Years 11 and upwards, these great sessions feature Old Hymerian speakers from a variety of sectors.

After the success of last year's Paint and Sip evening we are delighted to be hosting another evening of creativity as part of our exciting Giving Day activities later this month.
Under the expert guidance of the incredibly talented Mrs Rowland, (who is a landscape painter when she's not teaching), you'll get to unleash your artistic side to create your own floral abstract painting.
We will provide everything you need to paint your own 9 x 12 inch canvas, perfectly sized so you can take home your finished artwork. All proceeds from this fantastic event, will go towards the John Hymers Bursary Fund. This incredibly worthy cause supports academically gifted young people from across the region to benefit from access to a Hymers education, which they would otherwise not be able to experience.

The Year 6 and Year 5 Dance Club wowed family and friends with a fantastic performance in the Theatre.
To practice in front of a live audience and build their confidence ahead of the national finals of the Great Big Dance Off next week, Year 6 performed their competition routine, which won them the regional heat earlier this year. Performing alongside them, Year 5, who we are sure will be contenders for next year's final, treated the audience to two routines they have been working on.
It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all the dancers hard work and progress, showcasing their amazing talent. Well done everyone and the very best of luck to Year 6 for next week's competition! 🤩

Following the success of Giving Day last year, we are excited to be holding another fun-filled 36 hours at the end of this month, to raise money for the John Hymers Bursary Fund.
More than 700 students from the Junior School to Sixth Form, will be taking part in challenges and activities on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 June, to raise funds that will transform the lives of talented young people from across the region.
Alongside the students' fundraising efforts, which will culminate in a spectacular colour run, Headmaster Mr Stanley, has dusted off his running shoes to take part in the East Yorkshire Half Marathon at Burton Constable Hall on Saturday 21 June. Mr Stanley is hoping to raise a fantastic £10,000 for the fund and we are all behind him!
It's going to be an incredible 36 hours, all in aid of a truly excellent cause.
If you'd like to sponsor Mr Stanley or support Giving Day please take a look here to find out how to get involved 👉https://loom.ly/r2m93SE

Lots of fun at William's Den!
The Pre-School recently spent a lovely day climbing, running, jumping and exploring at outdoor adventure play attraction William's Den. Whilst the children had lots of fun, they also got to practice their balance and coordination skills, as they enjoyed playing in the sand and interacting with the play equipment.
Big thanks to Miss Allison for taking this fantastic footage of the children (and teachers) having a brilliant time.

♟️Children in Year 6 visited Chess Club this week to experience a Senior School co-curricular activity.
Timothy, Alvin. Hannah, Naiva, Reese and Maxim had lots of fun challenging members of the Club to a game and getting some tips and strategy advice from Sixth Form members. All the children played incredibly well, picking up new tactics and relishing the chance to play against different opponents. Huge congratulations to Maxim who beat a Year 10 student!
The visit was a lovely opportunity for Year 6 to have a taste of some of the activities they will be able to enjoy when the progress into Year 7 in September. Well done to Year 6 for taking part and to the Chess Club for making them so welcome!

Huge congratulations to Aiza, Ben and Alice in Year 8 on their outstanding performance at the Translation Bee North Regional Final!
Hosted at Lancaster University, the competition challenged students to translate sentences on the spot from English into French or Spanish under intense pressure. All three Hymers College students were absolutely exceptional, demonstrating a true passion for languages and serving as a brilliant inspiration to their peers.
A special round of applause to Aiza and Ben, who have successfully qualified for the National Final at the University of Cambridge!
