Earlier this week, 6SM enjoyed a trip into the city centre with HEY Children's University to learn more about Hull's rich maritime history. They discovered what life was like for trawlermen, took part in role play activities exploring the story of the Headscarf Heroes and quizzed members of the public on their knowledge of Hull's fishing heritage. The day also included a tour of the city and a visit to the memorial dedicated to the lost trawlermen. The children will continue to investigate Hull's maritime history (and the stories of those connected to it) throughout their history lessons this term.

They started the day with a warm up, took part in football activities with Hull City Ladies, practiced batting and fielding skills with Yorkshire Cricket, enjoyed a range of athletics events, played some rugby with Wakefield Trinity, had a barbecue lunch and then finished the day with a disco.

4CS have been exploring flexible partitioning in maths, using counters to represent and regroup numbers up to 10,000 in different ways. The children showed great understanding of place value and enjoyed finding more than one way to make the same number. Well done, Year 4!
