Gaming is a huge part of many young people's lives, but some online features can blur the line between gaming and gambling in ways that aren't always obvious.

Our latest guide explains what skin betting is, why it's becoming more common, and how parents, carers and educators can help children stay safe online.

The guide covers:

โ€ข What skin betting is and how it works
โ€ข Why virtual in-game items can have real-world value
โ€ข The risks of unregulated third-party platforms
โ€ข Social pressure and influencer promotion
โ€ข Warning signs to look out for
โ€ข Practical steps to reduce the risks through conversations and parental controls

By understanding how skin betting works, trusted adults can spot potential risks early and help young people make safer choices online.

Last week, our new Year 7s spent time getting to know life at Oakfield and discovering what our school is all about.

They enjoyed a fantastic week packed with exciting activities, including parachute games, creating clay fairy doors and Fimo fruit, cycling, baking, and even learning the ancient Chinese game of Jianzi!

It was wonderful to see so many new friendships beginning to form, and we hope these first experiences at Oakfield have helped everyone feel excited and confident about starting with us in September.

We canโ€™t wait to welcome you all back as part of the Oakfield family! ๐Ÿ’™

โ˜• Celebrating a Successful Year 7 Parent Transition Coffee Morning!

On Monday 6th July, we were delighted to welcome families to our Year 7 Parent Transition Coffee Morning. It was a fantastic opportunity for parents and carers to meet members of staff, access helpful advice, and find out more about the support available for their children and families as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.

A huge thank you to our partner agencies for joining us and sharing their valuable knowledge and resources, including the School Nursing Team, Aim Higher, and Healthy Holidays.

Weโ€™d also like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the morning such a positive and successful event. We look forward to continuing to work together to support our new Year 7 families!
