Weekly roundup - week 4 completed 🙌

We have spent the week exploring and investigating numbers and size; we have used the tape measures to see how tall each of us is and then compared them against one another. We then have taken these measurements and turned them into a beautiful garden display using our hand prints as the flowers 💐 - we plan to measure ourselves again in the spring term and the summer term to see how much we have grown 😀

We have used the numicon to count 1 to 10 and match amounts to the numbers - lots of exploring numbers and learning to count aloud, giving a single number name to each item. The children have really enjoyed taking it in turns to count how many there are all together at register and then splitting the number into how many boys, girls and teachers!!!

During the rest of the week we have explored and played with the sand outside; filling and emptying containers investigating mass and volume. We have coloured and designed, we have rolled conkers and watched how fast they can go and looked at the patterns on leaves that have kindly been brought in 🍁🍂 (this will continue over the next week as we look at the season changing and link it to the Harvest Festival)

We have danced, sung and even gone on a colour hunt around the preschool, developing our knowledge of colours and what we can see. The children really enjoyed the marching round the setting hunting for colours especially as it ended with a special reward of a fruit picnic in the home corner with a chocolate treat afterwards 😋 ❤️.

Don't forget we are collecting for the Harvest Festival, anything that can be spared or donated is greatly appreciated as we make up care baskets for local care homes in the area.

Not forgetting our celebration of Filip's 4th birthday this week with a very yummy chocolate racing car cake yum yum yum 😋.

Its getting to that time of year when the weather is a little unpredictable and all the children are snotty and full of cold 🥶!

Can we please suggest that the children come in layers that will keep them warm (especially in the morning and over dinner) but also can be easily removed should they become warmer throughout the day.

Also (little cheeky) but we could really use some tissues 🤧 pretty please 🙏 💕 xx

Harvest festival is coming up and we would like to explore and participate over the next few weeks!

We need your help 🤣 - we are encouraging all the children to look at their changing environment; what is happening to the leaves and how the weather is changing and we have asked them to collect leaves and conkers to bring into the setting 😀

We are also hoping to collect and create food parcels for our local care homes. Could we please ask for any donations to be brought into the preschool - tins, packets, dried foods, biscuits etc

Superstar of the week - Mr Joey !! ⭐️

Weekly roundup - week 3 completed and we have ended the week with lots of runny noses, children and staff alike (definitely feeling the change of weather and autumn season is upon us 🥶)

We have had a busy week, we have started on our 'watch us grow' display, looking at how big we are, measuring us and picking colours to represent our flowers 💐.

We have continued to enjoy the outside play area as the weather has allowed; exploring volume and mass through moving and playing in the sand. Climbing and moving in a variety of directions with the stepping stones, steps and slides and the rolling the tires and cars down the ramp !

We looked at healthy eating, making fruit faces with bananas, strawberries and grapes - lots of fun was had making happy or sad faces 😅!! Thankfully everyone was happy 😊 x

We then ended the week making pictures of ourselves; lots of different craft materials were used to make versions of each other encouraging lots of conversations about what we look like, what colour eyes and hair we have and who we look like 👀 xx

Jigsaws, construction, imaginative play, role play and even a tent ⛺️ - phew what a busy week we have had xx

Little reminder the preschool is continually in need for snack items - we have a hungry cohort this term 😋 xx

Weekly roundup - week two (and our first full week) completed 😀

This week we have absolutely loved reading, sharing and talking about the new Julia Donaldson book, The Gruffalo Granny ❤️ - we have made our very own Gruffalo Granny Stew, we have coloured, created and drawn the various characters from the story and we have started to look at the other stories as told by the mouse 🐁!!

We have taken full advantage of the sunshine and warmer weather this week; playing outside in the small garden with the building blocks, sew saw, climbing bench, sand tray and rolling the balls and small tires.
We have explored and observed nature around us, finding a giant spider and watching it as it moved across its web 🕸 🕷 .

We have started to explore early numbers and measuring; using the dice and tape measures in the maths area, counting the children and staff at register time and even measuring how tall each of us is and who is biggest or smallest .... look out for our future display on measuring 😉. We have also looked at and matched colours and shapes.

We have developed and strengthen our hand muscles through playdough, using the tweezers to transport and even putting together and taking apart the coloured dinosaurs with the screwdriver .... phew, thats a really hard job that takes a lot of concentration!!! And at snack time we buttered our own pieces of toast using the child friendly knives with a view to becoming more independent.

We have ended the week by giving our first certificate out to Miss Marnie, who has only just started within the preschool and throughout the entire week has walked in independently from her mummy .... wow what a big girl, we are so proud of you ❤️ ###
