🚨 JUNIOR SESSION FULL TONIGHT 🚨

We’ve had a fantastic response to tonight’s Junior Session and we are now completely full.

👉 Please don’t turn up for the Junior Session unless you already have a booking, as unfortunately we won’t be able to accommodate any additional paddlers.

Older teenagers — there are still spaces available in tonight’s Adult Session, so you can book onto that instead. 🛶

Thanks everyone for your support and for helping us keep the sessions safe and manageable. 💙

🌍🛶 WHAT A WEEKEND FOR KINGSTON KAYAK CLUB!

It’s been a busy one for Kingston paddlers!

While Kingston Ladies were in Milan finishing an incredible 9th at the European Canoe Polo Club Championships, and Sebastian, Isaac and Rupert were representing the club at the Stone Div 3/4 Canoe Slalom, there was plenty happening closer to home too.

Today saw our annual Wolfreton Marathon on the River Derwent at Barmby on the Marsh. 🛶

And apparently one discipline in a weekend wasn’t enough for Sebastian! 😂 After racing at Stone on Saturday, he travelled back that evening so he could get up and race four miles in the marathon today. 💪

From canoe polo in Milan 🇮🇹, to slalom at Stone, to marathon racing on the Derwent – it’s fantastic to see Kingston paddlers out enjoying so many different sides of our sport in a single weekend. 💚🖤

A huge thank you to Rudkin family and all the volunteers who gave their time to organise and run today’s Wolfreton Marathon. 👏❤️

🛶 DAY TWO AT STONE DIV 3/4 SLALOM!

Three Kingston paddlers were racing today, with Isaac and Rupert in Division 3 K1M and Andy in K1 Men’s Veterans.

For our youngsters, this season is all about having fun, getting time on the water and learning race craft – and there was certainly plenty of fun today! 😁

Despite the coaches repeatedly telling Isaac and Ru to chill between runs, the lure of the playground and skate park proved far too strong. 😂 By the time they got back on the start line, we think they’d already exhausted themselves!

But that’s what it’s all about. We saw two proper young racers out on the course, developing their skills, learning with every run and, most importantly, having fun doing it. 💪🛶

Meanwhile, in the old men’s event 👴, Andy managed to take another win – and came away with a rather lovely mug to take home! 🏆☕

A massive thank you to Stafford and Stone Canoe Club and all their volunteers for organising and running another brilliant weekend of slalom. ❤️👏

🇬🇧 KINGSTON LADIES – 9TH IN EUROPE! 🇪🇺

A fantastic result for Kingston Ladies, finishing 9th at the 2026 Paddle Europe Canoe Polo Club Championships in Milan! 🛶💚

The championships brought together 15 of Europe’s top women’s club teams at Milan’s Idroscalo for three days of intense competition.

And Kingston did it with a squad of just FIVE players – no substitutes, no opportunity for a breather, just five players battling through the whole competition! 💪🔥

To come away 9th in Europe is a brilliant achievement and something the whole club can be incredibly proud of.

Massive congratulations to the team – what a way to represent Kingston Kayak Club on the European stage! 👏💚🖤

☀️ A great day of racing in the sunshine at Stone Division 3/4 Slalom! 🛶

Isaac, Rupert and Sebastian were all out representing Kingston today — with three videos showing how their racing developed through the day.

Their first runs were… well, let’s just say finding the route seemed to be part of the challenge! 😂 But second runs were much better, with all three finding their way around the course and showing some really positive progress.

The results might not have been quite what they were hoping for, but their coaches are really pleased with how they’re developing. There’s plenty of speed and ability there — we just need to work on that focus! 👀

🏆 Day One bragging rights go to Sebastian, who was the fastest of the KKC paddlers today!

Well done Isaac, Rupert and Sebastian. 💪

🛶 WHAT COULD YOU LEARN THIS WINTER?

Winter doesn’t mean putting the paddle away!

Our Monday night indoor sessions at Albert Avenue Pools are a great opportunity to keep paddling throughout the winter, learn new skills and build your confidence — all in the warmth of the pool.

Over the winter you could:
💦 Learn how to capsize safely and confidently
🛟 Practise rescues and learn how to help another paddler
🔄 Learn to roll — or make your existing roll more reliable
🛶 Improve your forward paddling, turning and boat control
⚖️ Develop edging and support strokes
💪 Build your confidence in and around the water
🏅 Work towards the skills for the Paddle UK Discover and Explore awards
🎯 Or simply pick something you’d like to improve and ask one of our coaches for help

The pool is a brilliant place to learn. Warm water, a controlled environment and coaches on hand mean you can try things, get them wrong, have another go and gradually build your confidence.

And you don’t need to be an experienced paddler. Whether you’re completely new to kayaking or have been paddling for years, there’s always something new to learn.

🛶 NEW TO KAYAKING? GIVE IT A GO!

Fancy trying something different on a Monday evening?

Our Adult Monday Night sessions at Albert Avenue Pools are a great way to get into kayaking — even if you’ve never been in a kayak before.

You don’t need any previous experience. Our friendly coaches will help you get started at your own pace, from simply getting comfortable in the boat to learning the basic strokes and building your confidence on the water.

As you progress, there are loads of new skills to try:
💦 Learn the basics
🛟 Practise capsizes and rescues safely
🔄 Have a go at rolling
🛶 Improve your boat control
🏅 Work towards Paddle UK Discover and Explore skills
😊 And most importantly — enjoy being on the water!

All the kayaking equipment you need is provided, so you can simply book on and give it a try.

🛶 MONDAY NIGHTS ARE MOVING BACK INDOORS!

From Monday 5th October, Kingston Kayak Club is back inside at Albert Avenue Pools for our weekly Monday night sessions.

👦 Juniors – 6:30pm
🛶 Adults – 7:30pm
🥅 Canoe Polo – 8:30pm

Each session lasts one hour.

And the pool isn't just somewhere to keep paddling when the weather gets colder – it's one of the best places to improve your skills.

💦 Learn and practise rescues
🔄 Work towards your first roll – or make your existing roll more reliable
🛶 Improve boat control, edging and support strokes
💪 Build confidence in and around the water
🏅 Develop the skills for the Paddle UK Discover and Explore awards

Adults – this session is for you too!

Whether you're relatively new to paddling, want to become more confident, have a particular skill you'd like to crack, or simply fancy an hour on the water on a Monday evening, come and join us.

You don't need to be working towards an award and you don't need to be an expert. Our coaches can help you work on the things you want to improve.
