A change from the norm tonight, an evening away from the gym (which was busy when I left 📈🤩)…

Saul recently got to the finals of the East Yorkshire Higher Apprenticeship of the year 🏆 Given everything else he’s doing, getting so far is commendable 👏👏👏 A level 5 apprenticeship whilst working and training full time twice a day is no joke. His family and those around him are extremely proud 👌

For me it was a night that highlighted just how far we have come and where we are heading. Vulcan was launched almost 15 years ago. Back then we made a commitment to employ young people. We felt the biggest impact we could make on young lives, was help facilitate their education and provide meaningful jobs for them…

Over the years we have employed a lot of apprentices, right now we have a great group and have just employed a few more ☺️ Our previous apprentices have moved on to become teachers, to join the armed forces and many other awesome careers, which makes me very happy 💙

In 2026 we opened Harte’s Academy (currently taking admissions for September) a 50 place independent special school, which will concentrate on developing the skills of young people traditionally furthest away from the labour market. In doing so we will also employ young people to make it happen…

In July we are also opening the doors of our second centre in Mitchell, where again we will employ local young people and seek to place them in leadership roles and give them meaningful opportunities to grow. We are genuinely excited about continuing to develop our project in a different area of the city… the cornerstone being- a commitment to young people, providing education and real employment roles..

I may die tomorrow, but I know this, we have already had a genuine impact on young people in this city.. creating leaders and future leaders! I remain adamant it’s the only way to ensure meaningful change.

Well done Saul for tonight, your future looks very bright. May there be many more like you who will help guide our project through the next 15 years and ensure its impact continues to grow…

Hull boxer wins international title with unanimous decision in New York Saul Matchett of Vulcan Boxing Club claimed the International Belt at 154lbs after a unanimous decision victory over Brooklyn's Josh Marquez in New York.
