This afternoon Year 4 created artwork to the lyrics of Louis Armstrong's song - What a Wonderful World, as part of their unit on stewardship and how we look after our wonderful planet.

Thanet Stars of the Week undefined

Year 1RE had a great day on Wednesday learning about the history of the World cup. We found out that Germany has won 4 World Cups, Brazil 5 and England 1 and these wins are shown in the number of stars on their football kit. One of our teams is Germany, so we made German flags to hang in the classroom and even learnt some German words like Gutentag, Wie Gehts and Ich heisse... We created our football dream team and made medal awards for golden gloves, golden ball and golden boot. We watched a video of football skills and then practised these on the school field which was a lot of fun!

Just a reminder that tomorrow is:

Mrs Bell's Daddy sent the children a picture of this beautiful butterfly that he found at home (once a teacher, always a teacher!). He told us that it is a peacock butterfly! We googled peacock butterflies and peacocks, searched outside for butterflies (we found one!) and produced these lovely butterfly prints.
Using this 'in the moment opportunity', lead to making lovely connections and thinking about nature and family.

A huge thank you to all the boys and girls that took part in the World Cup Football Challenge today. We battled the wind and rain early in the day but the weather turned much better by lunchtime and everyone had a great time. Sponsorship money can be brought into school now - Thank you for supporting us in trying to hit our target of £2k ⚽️

4KA were lucky with the weather for their part in today's charity football. They have enjoyed a day of football maths, reading, poetry and geography. A lovely day was had by all.
