Mastering place value and large number lines up to 10,000,000 in today's maths session! 🧠🔢✨
We worked through reading, estimating, and accurately placing large numbers across complex scales! 💡📈

Here are the key place value skills we focused on:
📍Scales up to 1,000,000: Working out intervals to correctly position values like 40,000, 75,000, 400,000, 650,000, and 750,000 on a number line.

📍Multiples of 10,000: Identifying mark divisions on scaled intervals and labeling arrows with exact multiples (e.g., 10,000, 250,000, 430,000, 690,000, and 940,000).

📍Placing Numbers up to 10,000,000: Scaling up to millions and accurately placing values like 700,000, 2,600,000, 4,500,000, 7,000,000, and 9,700,000 along a 0 to 10 million number line.

Brilliant numerical reasoning, sharp problem-solving, and amazing progress with large numbers! 🌟👏

In this session, we spent time identifying and building main, subordinate and embedded clauses to take sentence construction to the next level! 🖊️📖 ✨️

Here are the key SPaG concepts we covered:
➡️ Main vs. Subordinate Clauses: Identifying main clauses (which make complete sense on their own) and subordinate clauses (which add extra detail and need a main clause to make sense).
➡️ Subordinating Conjunctions: Circling and using key conjunctions like because, while, before, unless, and although to drop extra detail into sentences.
➡️ Sentence Position & Embedded Clauses: Exploring how subordinate clauses can move, placing them at the end, starting with a fronted subordinate clause, or dropping an embedded clause right into the middle of a sentence using commas!

Fantastic focus, great handwriting, super proud of this new learner as they had no idea what a clause was at the beginning, so we'll recap and then move on in the next session as it's such an important thing to learn!🌟👏

We tackled everything from classifying 2D polygons to completing symmetrical patterns with absolute precision! 💡📐

Here are the key geometry concepts we worked through:
✨️ Properties of 2D Shapes & Polygons: Identifying sides, right angles, and parallel pairs, plus defining polygons as 2D, closed shapes made of straight lines.
✨️ Lines of Symmetry: Completing shapes accurately across horizontal and vertical mirror lines.
✨️ Symmetrical Patterns: Shading grid patterns to reflect perfectly across lines of symmetry! 🟩🟦

In this session, this learner finished drafting their autobiography plans and putting Year 6 grammar into action! 📝✍️✨

Here are the grammar features and writing highlights we focused on:
⭐️Fronted Adverbials & Relative Clauses: Setting the scene with time phrases like "In July 2016..." and adding detail about family members.
⭐️ Parenthesis & Relative Clauses: Incorporating extra detail using brackets and relative clauses (e.g., "My favourite team (Arsenal) have influenced how I play...").
⭐️ Modal Verbs & Direct Speech: Expressing future ambitions ("I would like to be a plumber, so now I must try my best at school") and capturing direct speech from early school memories! 🏫⚽💧

Cracking effort, brilliant sentence structures, and excellent enthusiasm for writing, which is lovely to see! 🌟👏

Mastering place value and rounding like a pro in this session! 🧠🔢✨

From not having a clue what rounding was at the start, this brand new Y6 learner made incredible progress while prepping for their SATs! 🖊️💡

We tackled reading giant numbers on lines up to 10,000,000 and broke down rounding steps using key rules on the whiteboard:
⭐️"5 or more goes up ↑" ⬆️
⭐️ "4 or less stays the same" ➡️

They smashed rounding to the nearest 10, 100, and 1,000 and even those tricky 6-digit numbers!

Absolute superstar effort and a massive boost of confidence ahead of SATs! 🌟👏

We will finish off the sheet in the next session and see how well they've remembered 😊
