Manor Road - Pre School.

To support our Book of the Month Ten little dinosaurs, Pre School have been investigating different footprints. This led to them making their own footprints in the playdough and comparing sizes.
We made a dinosaur swamp with gloop and explored how it changed when we touched it.

Leading on from our experiments Madi then made us some giant bubbles. We were fascinated as we stood in the tough tray and made bubbles over our bodies!

In the garden we observed some spiders so decided to make our giant spider webs using string and hula hoops.

Some of our older children used flour and brushes to begin to recognise and write the letters of their names.

We have also enjoyed building, working out which bricks were best to use to get the tallest tower.

At home why not support your child to recognise their name, then have a go at writing it.

Manor Road - Babies.

The last couple of weeks we have been exploring sensory play, making our own playdough and washing the dolls in the water.
We have followed giant dinosaur footprints around the room, looking at and learning language of size as well as building our physical development.
We have had trips out in our community too. We went to the shop to buy some fruit and veg, then used these to paint with.
We have also explored the garden, whatever the weather. We especially loved splashing in the puddles!

At home why not use fruit and veg to make prints, talking about different sizes and shapes.

Holderness - The Hub

The children have been making their nature frames! They have worked on their fine motor skills wrapping the string and using scissors. They have been looking at shapes and sizes to make their rectangular frames using two longer sticks and two shorter sticks.

At home, see what other sizes and shapes they can find in their house or garden.

Holderness Road - The Hub

The children in The Hub have enjoyed exploring their toys and environment at nursery. They have been taking turns with posting activities, dancing with the parachute, and going on a hunt in the garden finding all their favourite toys.

At home you can encourage the children to explore the outdoor environment and see what you can find. Encourage their turn taking and engagement in fun activities they enjoy!

Polite notice.

We have lots of wonderful toys and resources for our children to enjoy at nursery.

Please can we politely request that children do not bring toys from home as these can easily get lost or broken and cause upset.

Thank you.

Manor Road - When a rainstorm doesn't stop our learning!

Today we had lots of rain, instead of being miserable about it we donned our wetsuits and wellies and found the biggest puddle to splash in. We then watched as Heather unblocked the drain and were fascinated as the water suddenly rushed down the hole.

Next we used washing up liquid and our new brooms to make bubbles. Did you know that before we can write we need to make our shoulder and elbow muscles strong?
Using the brushes gave us a good workout!

We then made marks in the bubbles and measured our footprints, estimating who's feet would be the biggest.

At home why not have water play outside or go for a muddy puddle walk.
