Manor Road.

Today the Pre School children have been learning about tonight's eclipse ☀

Heather showed us how it will happen using balls to represent the Earth, the moon and the sun.

We then made holes in cardboard and went outside to see how the sun shone through the hole and talked about keeping and protecting our eyes by not looking directly at the sun.

We used this knowledge to create beautiful pictures of what the eclipse will look like.

All of the children were so excited to witness it tonight, let us know if you watch it 😃

Disco time for our school leavers.

The Pre School children wanted a "sparkly disco" so a sparkly disco they got!

We had such fun, dancing, playing party games and looking back on our time at nursery. How you have all grown!

Thank you to all the parents who came to celebrate with us, we hope you had a great time.

Holderness - Leavers Party!

We had a blast yesterday afternoon saying goodbye to all of our friends who are leaving for school.

The children were asked how they wanted to celebrate and they asked for a Disco.

We enjoyed party games and dancing!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us.

We wish you all lots of luck in your new school adventures!
And for those of you who come through the summer, we look forward to making some last memories with you all.

This month, our Book of the Month is Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson. Through this lovely story of friendship, kindness and working together, children will explore themes of sharing, helping others and celebrating differences. We will use the story to create a range of engaging activities that encourage discussion, imaginative play and problem-solving, helping children to develop their communication, language and social skills.

Our songs and rhymes this month are "The Nemo Song" and "I Had a Tiny Turtle". These fun and familiar songs will support children's language development, listening and attention skills, memory, and confidence in joining in with group activities. Singing together also helps children develop rhythm, coordination and early literacy skills through repetition and rhyme.

Throughout July, we will plan a variety of teachable moments linked to our book and songs, including exploring sea creatures and their habitats, learning about friendship and cooperation, and encouraging children to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas. These experiences will support all areas of development, including:

Communication and Language – developing vocabulary, listening and conversation skills.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development – building friendships, sharing, turn-taking and understanding emotions.
Physical Development – through action songs, movement activities and fine motor experiences.
Literacy – fostering a love of stories, books, songs and rhymes.
Understanding the World – learning about ocean life and the natural world.
Expressive Arts and Design – through music, role play, creative crafts and storytelling.
We will also be celebrating International Day of Friendship on 30th July, with activities focused on kindness, friendship and working together.

There will be lots of other exciting events taking place this month, including the start of some of our end-of-term celebrations. Please keep a look out for updates, posters and information about what is happening at your child's setting via our page and displays within the nursery. We look forward to a fun-filled month of learning and celebration together!
