Manor Road.

This afternoon the children went on an adventure!

We caught the bus into town and were so excited to see the rides for Hull Fair being put up.
We then visited the Maritime Museum in the city centre.

What an amazing time we had. We loved the massive skeleton of a whale, the enormous polar bear, sailing the ship and lifting heavy weights. The interactive displays captivated us so much.

We finished the afternoon with a snack before catching the bus back to nursery. We'll certainly sleep well tonight!

This October, we’ll be exploring the wonderful world of farmyard animals through our planned teachable moments. Our Book of the Month is Farmyard Hullabaloo, which will encourage the children to listen, join in with repeated phrases and sounds, and develop their understanding of the animals we may find on a farm.

Our songs and rhymes this month will include Old MacDonald Had a Farm and The Harvest Time Song, helping us to explore farm animals, sounds, and the changes we see during the harvest season.

For our home learning opportunity, we’d love families to support the children with animal recognition. You could look at books, pictures, toys or animals you see outdoors together and talk about what they are called, the sounds they make and where they live.

Also this October, our settings will be supporting Harvest Festival and celebrating the importance of kindness, sharing and helping others within our local communities.

Both settings will be collecting food for Hull Foodbank which distributes food across the city for those in need. Please pass any donations to the staff and please only give what you are able to.

We would like to thank all of our families in advance for their generosity and support. Every donation, no matter how big or small, can help make a difference to those in our communities. ❤️

Manor Road -Pre School September so far.

We have been making the most of the lovely weather by spending lots of time outside. In the garden we have made friendship potions, built with the loose parts and experimented making giant bubbles. We have also been on trips to the park, developing our gross motor skills and road safety awareness and also to the library, sharing lots of new stories.
Accessing our community helps us develop a sense of belonging and helps us understand the wider world.

Inside we have developed our cutting skills by using large boxes to make rockets and foil to make treasure. Through this play the staff have introduced mathematical concepts as well as encouraging collaborative play.

At Tallulah we encourage the children to be independent from a young age. They self serve their meals, spread their own bread and even scrape their plates once they have finished. Taking ownership of meal times encourages them to eat more and gives them a sense of pride.

At home why not encourage them to help prepare and serve a meal and let your child show off their tidy up skills!

A Little Update About Our Social Media
After careful consideration, we have made the decision that we will no longer be sharing photos that show children's full faces on our social media page.
As technology continues to develop, particularly with the rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI), there are increasing risks that images shared online can be copied, altered or misused in ways that are beyond our control. Protecting children's privacy and digital identity has never been more important.
Our priority has always been, and will always be, to safeguard every child in our care. We will still be sharing the wonderful activities, learning opportunities and special moments that happen here, but our photos will focus on children's achievements, play and experiences and not their identities.
Photos of your child will still be sent home on our My Memory sheets and also emailed privately if it is something special.
We thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to put children's safety, wellbeing and privacy first—both offline and online.

Manor Road.
To support our Book of the Month, Kind, Pre School talked about ways they could show kindness, both to each other and also in the community.

We decided we would like to make our community look nice so this afternoon we went on a litter pick.

The children were amazing in finding rubbish on the floor, then using our new litter pickers to pick up the rubbish and put it in the bin.

I think we might have a few little Eco Warriors on our hands 🌍♻

September is an exciting month as we welcome children back to our settings after the summer break and extend a very warm welcome to all of our new children beginning their nursery journey. We will be supporting everyone to settle in, build new friendships, become familiar with their environment, and develop confidence through nurturing routines and engaging activities.

Our planned teachable moments this month will focus on mindfulness, kindness, and gratitude, helping children develop positive relationships, empathy, and an appreciation for the world around them. Through stories, discussions, creative activities, and play, we will encourage children to recognise acts of kindness, express gratitude, and explore ways they can be helpful and caring every day.

Our Book of the Month is Kind by Axel Scheffler, which provides a wonderful opportunity to talk about kindness, friendship, and how small acts can make a big difference. Our Songs and Rhymes of the Month are "If You're Kind and You Know It" and "The Being Helpful Song", reinforcing these important themes through music and movement.

On 21st September, we will also recognise World Gratitude Day. Each setting may choose to celebrate this special day in different ways, so keep an eye out for updates from your child's setting to see how they will be marking the occasion with the children. We look forward to a happy, positive start to the new term and another wonderful month of learning, discovery, and fun together. 💛

Manor Road.

Today was the final day with our school leavers and boy was it was emotional 😢.

On behalf of myself and the team, thank you for your lovely cards, gifts and kind words.
But most of all thank you for choosing us to care for your children.
We feel honoured to be a part of their lives, from watching them learn to walk and talk, potty training, hundreds of cuddles, mopping up tears, reading stories, painting and creating and so many giggles to seeing them ready to spread their wings and go off to Big School. We are so proud of the wonderful little people they have become ❤️

We just know they'll all smash this next part of the journey.

Manor Road - Babies.

The babies have explored different animals and their sounds and homes. Our favourites are roaring like a lion and snap snapping like a crocodile!

We have also been on a lovely walk to the park where we collected leaves to add to our play.

We also made our own paint then used it to do a large scale painting on the floor. It was very messy but very fun!

At home why not let us use our whole bodies to create pictures. Painting on a large scale helps us develop the muscles in our arms ready to write when we are older.

Manor Road - Pre School.

To support our Book of the Month Dear Zoo, we have been exploring different animals and their habitats.
We have learnt all about what different animals need to live and have incorporated this into our play, using loose parts to make dens for them.

We have also enjoyed exploring the Gruffalo story, making pizzas in the playdough and running our own shop, talking about money and counting out things to buy.

At home why not make a shopping list with pictures and encourage your child to find the items.
