We are absolutely thrilled to announce a brand-new partnership between Hull Fostering and the amazing Lili+ Mila’s Empawrium. A community minded dog business located on one of Hulls most loved streets, The Land of Green Ginger.

So, why are Hull Fostering teaming up with a dog business you may ask?

Over the years we've learnt that dog owners can make incredible foster carers, and research shows that family dogs can have a massive, positive impact on local children entering care.

Here are our top two reasons why your dog (or cat) might just make you the perfect candidate to foster:

The Ultimate Icebreaker: Coming into a new foster home can be scary for a child. A friendly dog provides instant, non-judgmental comfort. They don't ask difficult questions; they just offer a wagging tail and an immediate feeling of safety

A Therapeutic Bridge: Physically petting a dog scientifically lowers stress and anxiety. For many foster children, a family pet becomes a safe confidant and a bridge to learning to trust adults again.

Hull Fostering wants local dog owners to know that your pet isn't a barrier to fostering, they are viewed as a huge therapeutic asset to our team!

In the new year Lili and Mila's will be hosting with Hull Fostering a dog walk in the city centre to raise awareness and celebrate these fantastic dogs.

A warm welcome to Hulltruck Theatre! — our newest Fostering Friendly partner!

We had a brilliant conversation today talking about something we know matters to many of our foster families:

How do we make sure every child gets the chance to enjoy the arts?

For some children, particularly those who are neurodiverse, have experienced trauma or simply find busy environments difficult, a trip to the theatre can feel like a pretty big ask.

Will they manage the noise?
What if they can't sit still?
What if they need to leave?
What if they become overwhelmed?

And perhaps, as a parent or carer, you've wondered whether it's worth the stress.

That's why we were so encouraged to hear about Hull Truck's approach to making theatre more inclusive and welcoming for people with different needs.

Their Relaxed Performances offer a more flexible environment, where movement and noise are okay, children can leave and return to the auditorium if they need to, and there's a quiet space available. You can also arrange a pre-show visit to help your child become familiar with the theatre before you go.

Coming up are Hansel and Gretel and The Wind in the Willows. So, if you've previously thought “the theatre probably isn't for my child”, it might be worth taking another look.

And we're really excited about some of the other ideas that came from our conversation...

We're exploring opportunities for our young people to get involved in drama and creativity, including giving children the opportunity to tell their stories and, most importantly, have their voices heard.

It’s hard to believe it was only a week ago that the Smurfs and Team SpongeBob went head-to-head at Hull Ice Arena!

The stadium was packed out. There was healthy competition, laughter and community spirit, all in support of children and young people in foster care across Hull.

And the final score?

£5,893.76 raised for Together We Foster! 🎉👏

That money will help provide opportunities, experiences and memories for children and young people in foster care — making a real difference beyond the rink.

We couldn’t let a week go by without saying a huge thank you to the people who made it happen.

To Scott, Carly, Daryl and Cain, thank you for putting on such an incredible event and using your time and talents to support Hull’s fostering community.

To our Together We Foster team, thank you for everything you did behind the scenes.

To everyone who baked cakes, made sweetie bags, donated raffle and tombola prizes, volunteered, entertained the crowds, helped with the children, sold tickets or simply came along and supported the day — a very big thank you from all the Hull Fostering Team.

£5,893.76 is an incredible achievement.

But perhaps what we'll remember most is seeing so many people come together to support children in foster care.

Today we welcomed one of Hull’s newest art spaces into our Fostering Friendly community!

Earlier this year, Blank Canvas brought life to one of the empty units on the third floor of Princes Quay. Mandy and Sophie have big ambitions for the space, which is already opening its doors to all sorts of community groups. From poets and theatre groups to artists and creatives, there really is something for everyone.

Today, we were lucky enough to make use of this fantastic space for a creative session with our foster families. Children and carers got stuck in, experimenting with different art techniques and creating masterpieces that could feature in next year’s Hull Fostering calendar. 🎨✨
We were also delighted to be joined by Miranda Van Rossem, the community artist behind Hull’s Alphabet of Hull Trail. Hull Fostering is incredibly excited to be involved in this project and to help our foster families play a part in creating something for the wider city.
A huge thank you to Mandy, Sophie and everyone at Blank Canvas for welcoming our families and helping us create opportunities like this.

This is exactly what being a Fostering Friendly Business is about. Partnering with local businesses who are willing to open their doors to us, share their spaces, maybe even their skill and in doing so, helping foster families feel connected to the community around them.

Fostering doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes a whole community and we’re proud to be building

Thank you, Timpson.

Sometimes it’s the little acts of kindness that make the biggest difference.

When we found ourselves in a bit of a bind at an event, the fantastic team at Timpson on King Edward Street came to our rescue without hesitation. They genuinely saved our day, and we’re so grateful for their kindness and willingness to help.

It comes as no surprise, because Timpson has a long standing reputation for putting people first. Through the Timpson Foundation, the company supports care leavers into employment, offers work experience, guaranteed interviews and ongoing support, alongside its wider commitment to giving opportunities to people who need a second chance. It’s a business built on kindness, trust and community.

At Hull Fostering, we’re incredibly proud to recognise Timpson as one of our Fostering Friendly workplaces. Their support goes far beyond Hull, they have been championing children, families and communities across the country for many years.

Thank you to everyone at Timpson, especially the brilliant team on King Edward Street. Your kindness didn’t just help us on the day, it reminded us why businesses like yours make such a difference to local communities.

Hull’s much loved charity ice hockey match is officially back for 2026. We can guarantee it's a date you want to get into your diaries.

Hull Fostering are incredibly proud of all the support shown by the team at Kingston Reapers who continue to go above and beyond for Hull’s fostering community. This is their third year of putting on this event and each year it just gets better and better!

As well as the excitement and buzz created by the game, we also have prizes to be won and cakes to be eaten. All thanks to our incredible foster carers from Together We Foster and Mockingbird.

This is an event not to be missed!
