From September 2026, the government is expanding Free School Meals to cover more children. Free School Meals eligibility will be extended to all children in households receiving Universal Credit, removing the previous income cap of £7,400

*Applications for National Saturday Club 🌟*

Applications are now open for young people
aged 13–16 to join the National Saturday Club
for the 2026–27 programme.

The Clubs offer a free, inspiring space for young people to build skills, discover new talents and explore creative pathways with expert tutors.

From September 2026, members can take part in
weekly sessions that encourage creative
freedom, confidence and curiosity, all shaped
around each Club’s specialist facilities and
community. In Hull, applications are open for
the Art & Design Club delivered by the Institute
of Arts, Hull College and Ferens Art Gallery.

With more Clubs than ever across the UK and high
demand for places, early applications are

*Year 8 Boys’ Football ⚽️ *

We played The Marvel College in the Hull Schools Plate Final this week. In an excellent first half performance the boys created numerous chances, but were unable to capitalise and it was 1-1 at the break. Unfortunately, two second half excellent strikes gave Marvel a 3-1 win.

*Year 9 Girls’ Football ⚽️ *

The girls played St Mary’s in the Humberside/Hull Schools Cup Final. In appalling weather, with the wind and rain against them in the first half, the girls put in a resilient performance to take the game 0-0 into half time.

With 15 minutes of the game remaining St Mary’s scored two quick goals. However, the girls rallied and with 5 minutes to go scored a fantastic header from a corner.

Unfortunately they did not get the equaliser and St Mary’s won 2-1. The girls should be very proud of their achievements again this year, as they have represented the academy impeccably. Well done 👏🏻

Miss O’Sullivan has refreshed the Revision Shop in Room 212, ready to support Year 10 students as they prepare for their upcoming PPEs.

A wide range of revision materials is available for both English Language and English Literature, including resources for reading, writing, poetry, Macbeth, and more.
