Just a few weeks ago, this student was relying on counting for most of her additions and subtractions. Her belief in her maths and her confidence was low-but now, after starting with add one and then add two, she is taking on new addends with ease and her maths story and belief has already changed. You can see this in the way she works and smiles in class.

A new year, and fresh outlook to take forward. Creating change is not always easy, but there are some ways you can help yourself to do that.
We have plans-I have plans-and I look forward to seeing how these support our students and each other along the way.

The summer began with a challenge. There was a target in sight, some determination, pain, teamwork and celebration. It was well worth the effort. There were lessons learned, as with all challenges. I found out what I could do, and what the limitations were (and yes, they hurt). Looking back, I could have prepared. This is where the life skill of understanding and applying daily effort really comes in and of teamwork. No matter what area of life, these skills apply. So, next to the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in August and I am preparing already. What will your challenge for the summer be?

Just a selection of certificates to be handed out this week, from Rising Stars and New Starters, through to working three years ahead. I'm looking forward to handing them out. Congratulations everyone. Now let's look at some targets for August.

I always enjoyed watching how teams could do so much in such a short time and then seeing the change it could make to others.

One of our Summer Challenges, is to read at least one book and share that with me to confirm and you are in the prize draw for the challenge. Each book gets a raffle ticket.
I am also joining in with these 4 books read so far.
One is a challenge and I have read it twice now, and just like when students review work, my understanding developed.
One is short and a beautiful book I have read several times because I enjoy it.
One because I have wanted to read it for a while and I believe we can change our lives in 80 days if we make effort little and often.
And one, because it was a recommendation from my daughter and it was touching.
I am looking forward to my next book, I have had things to talk about and I am scrolling social media less and I am feeling more positive and creative. Once a reader, you are a reader for life.
And this is why this challenge is here. Already students have been talking about the books they are reading (one has read 19 books!!). I hope more will join in.
Please share with them and leave a comment if you would like to.
