Gary Stannett, Chief Executive, Active Communities Network said
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce this funding which will drive participation within some of Hull’s most deprived communities. Our 5 Star Active partnership offers a national platform which enables funders such as Sport England a mechanism to deliver localised projects within a broader national programme. Active Communities Network uses sport to provide a pathway for young people to achieve and we are committed to working with 14-25 year olds to ensure we not only increase participation but also support wider social outcomes such as promoting citizenship and improving access to employment.”
Sport England Director of Community Sport, Mike Diaper, said,
“It’s great to be working with innovative projects like 5 Star Active which offer more people the chance to get active in a way that suits them best. Given the overwhelming benefits of being active, it’s important that age, gender, or income never prevent anyone from taking part.”
