Meet Marissa! Our new General Practice Nurse Educator! 👋
Marissa completed her BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing degree in 2015 at the University of York and started her nursing career in the Emergency Department at York Hospital. Marissa joined Haxby Group, York in January 2018 as a Practice Nurse with particular interests in Vaccines and Immunisation, Women’s Health and Diabetes. As an integral member of the nurse team, Marissa was shortlisted for a Rising Star award at the GPN awards in 2019. Marissa became the Lead Nurse for Vaccine and Immunisation which involved delivering immunisation training and supporting the wider team, including the management of catch up vaccination plans for Ukrainian refugees in 2022.
Following a brief move to another practice in 2023, Marissa developed her leadership and management skills whilst continuing to support members of the wider nursing team with their own training and development.
Marissa is passionate about gold standard patient care, nursing development and progression and led to her re-joining Haxby Group and the training team in October 2023 as a Practice Nurse Educator. Marissa will be involved in the development of new training packages, delivering training and supporting nursing teams and students.
Outside of work, Marissa enjoys spending time with her fiancé and her 3 year old son.
