Navigating POI has made me think about health slightly differently.
I can't control every hormonal fluctuation.
But I can pay attention to the environment those fluctuations are happening within.
How well am I sleeping?
Am I moving and nourishing my body?
Am I supporting circulation, digestion and the systems my body already uses to process and eliminate what it doesn't need?
Am I getting outside?
Am I giving my brain somewhere healthy to put its energy?
Am I looking after my nervous system and the capacity of my body as a whole?
And perhaps most importantly, am I responding to myself with a little more compassion when I don't feel quite like me?
I'm not doing these things because I think I can wellness-routine my way out of POI.
I'm doing them because this is the body I get to live my life through.
And while it's navigating something pretty significant, I want to give it the best conditions I reasonably can.
Not perfect conditions.
Just supportive ones.
And on the tender days, sometimes support looks a lot more like softness in new pyjamas and fancy biscuits than optimisation through force.
In what ways can you support your basics and learn to hear what your body is asking for?

I love health. I’ve built a career around it.
But I don’t want mine - or yours - to become another full-time job.
I don’t want us so busy trying to optimise every meal, every morning, every stress response and every signal from our body that we forget to actually live in it.
There will always be another thing you *could* be doing.
But health isn’t perfection.
For me, it’s having enough capacity to meet life as it comes. To adapt when things aren’t ideal. To recover when life asks more of you. And to know your body well enough that you don’t need somebody else constantly telling you what it needs.
Learn about your body.
Support it.
Look after it.
**But then go and use it.**
Your health should give you more life to live, not more rules to live by.

My hormones are RAGING this week, and who the heck is cutting onions whenever a patient is telling me their wins?
Gushy music for the fuzzy feels on this one but I wanted to share a quick review of what I've been feeling lately.
🥰.
Now, I'm going to go eat the cake my body is dying for and spend the weekend with the people I care about, doing the things I love.
I hope you do the same.

Better health isn't about chasing a longer life.
It's about creating a life that feels better to live.
More energy to say yes to the hike.
More patience with the people you love.
More resilience when life gives you lemons.
More presence in the moments that matter.
More capacity to do the things that make you feel alive.
Able to do the things you WANT to do, not just the things you HAVE to do.
Because the goal has always been and should always be to add quality to the years you have.
And that starts with the small things you do every day, not because you're trying to live forever, but because you want to feel fully alive while you're here.
Squeeze every last drop from the lemons 🍋.
