We are excited and honoured to welcome guest speaker Anna Kent on the 30th April 2024 💕
@annakentmidwife
.
Anna who has helped women birth babies in war zones, earthquakes and refugee camps. At 26 years old, working for Doctors Without Borders (MSF) but not yet a fully trained midwife, she assisted a birth in a Sudanese tropical storm by the light of a headtorch. Later, she would be responsible for the female health of 30,000 stateless Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. But returning to the UK to work for the NHS, she soon learned that even at home, access to a safe birth was impossible to take for granted.
.
.
Anna went on to write the critically acclaimed Frontline Midwife; finding hope in life death and birth, illuminating the lives of women that are irreparably affected by compromised access to healthcare. She now works as an NHS nurse and midwife in Dorset, specialising in women and birthing people who are teenagers or have complex safeguarding.
