๐ This summer, help your child enjoy reading through the things they already love.
As part of the National Year of Reading, the Summer of Sport campaign is inspiring people to pick up books based on their favourite sports and sporting heroes.
The campaign has put together reading recommendations and activities for both children and adults. From football, rugby and tennis to racing, gymnastics, athletics and inspiring sporting autobiographies, there's something for every reader.

If you're looking for something creative to inspire your child, this is well worth a look! ๐จโจ
We've been proud to work with Creative Briefs over the past 10 years and can't recommend them highly enough. Their sessions give young people the chance to build confidence, explore their creativity and learn through fun, design-led activities in a supportive environment.
โInitially aiming to help dyslexic children, the team behind the community interest company now provides support across a range of neurodiverse spectrums.โ
Appeal to help young Hull people who see the world differently
โCreative Briefs is the outlet I wish Iโd have had when I was youngerโ

๐Over the past term, our students took part in the Sparks Summer Reading Challenge, discovering new books and authors while exploring different ways to enjoy reading for pleasure.
Congratulations to Primrose, our overall winner! ๐
When Primrose first started tuition, she refused to read a single word aloud. Today, she loves exploring our library, happily reads aloud during lessons, and regularly brings in books from home to share. Well done Primrose.
Last week, students collected their well-earned treats along with a book from our vending machine as a reward for taking part.
๐งกThanks to the Sparks Book Project and donations from Becoming 360 Academy and CATCH, we were able to purchase books for students to keep and share, and inspire even more reading over the summer holidays.

Today marks an important milestone for Dyslexia Sparks as we announce the appointment of Samantha Buttle as our Interim Chief Executive, effective from 1 August 2026.
After ten years of inspiring leadership, our Founding Director and CEO, Jane Craig, has made the decision to step down. Jane's vision, passion and dedication have transformed Dyslexia Sparks into a trusted charity supporting children, young people and adults with dyslexia, and we thank her for the lasting impact she has made.
Our services, support and commitment remain unchanged, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside our partners, schools, funders and supporters as we build on the strong foundations already in place.
Please join us in thanking Jane for an incredible decade of leadership and welcome Samantha Buttle into her new role.
Having been part of the organisation since inception, Samantha brings extensive specialist expertise, a deep understanding of our mission, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of dyslexic and neurodiverse learners. As someone who is dyslexic herself, she is passionate about leading the charity into its next chapter.

โจ Wishing Jess every success! โจ
This week, we said a very special goodbye to our wonderful student, Jess, who is leaving Dyslexia Sparks after six fantastic years with her tutor, Laura.
โJess attended every lesson, worked incredibly hard, and has grown so much in confidence over the years. Seeing her believe in herself and her abilities has been a real privilege.โ
We're proud to share that Jess has been accepted into BOA Art Academy in Birmingham to study Fashion. We know she'll achieve amazing things!
Dyslexia Sparks also supported her brother Tobias, on his learning journey with tuition.
A huge thank you to Jess's parents for the beautiful flowers and gifts, and to Clay10 for the incredibly generous donation.
Good luck Jess, we'll all be cheering you on! ๐

Congratulations to former Sparks tuition student Jacob, who has been named Young Match Official of the Year at the East Riding Grassroots Football Awards held at the MKM Stadium. ๐โฝ
Jacob left us earlier this year to pursue his dreams, and we couldn't be prouder of everything he's achieving. We have no doubt this is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see what comes next.
Thank you Jacob, for being such a fantastic ambassador for Sparksโก

โจ Over the weekend, we celebrated our annual Student Awards Presentation with our incredible tuition students and their families.
We welcomed guest speakers Victoria Aitken Cllr, and to inspire young learners and celebrate their dyslexia superpowers!
At Dyslexia Sparks, we believe it's so important to celebrate dyslexia and the unique strengths that come from thinking differently. Seeing our students' smiles as they were recognised for their hard work, determination and achievements over the past year was truly special.
โจ A huge thank you to our main event sponsor, Harris Lacey & Swain for helping make this wonderful celebration possible.
We're also incredibly grateful to our table sponsors: Phoenix Wellbeing , Accounting Solution, Andrew & Rogers Optometrists, Bg Solicitors LLP and Mick Jordan Construction.
