✨We had the pleasure of visiting our ESOL Pre-Entry group this week as they reached the end of their twelve-week course with tutor Carmen Barber.

To celebrate their final session, learners enjoyed a lively game of word bingo, followed by the presentation of their certificates of completion. It was a fantastic way to mark their hard work and achievements!👏

We look forward to welcoming the group back in September as they continue on to the next stage of their learning journey 📚🌟

🎉 Huge congratulations to Piotr Sliwinski on achieving his Level 3 Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship! 🔨🪚

We’re so proud of everything Piotr has achieved during his time with us at Hull Training and Adult Education. This is a massive milestone and one that truly reflects the hard work, dedication and passion he’s put into his trade.

Piotr has always had a natural talent for hands-on learning, and it’s been great to see his confidence and skills grow both in the workshop and on site with Hobson & Porter. With the support of his tutor's, he’s continued to push himself and produce work to an incredibly high standard.

His journey has been a brilliant one to watch, and it’s no surprise that he was recognised last year as Construction Advanced Apprentice of the Year at our HTAE Learner Awards 2025 – a testament to both his ability and his attitude.

Now fully qualified, Piotr is stepping into the next chapter of his career as a Joiner, and we couldn’t be happier for him.

Well done, Piotr — you’ve worked so hard for this, and it’s completely deserved. We’re excited to see where your skills take you next! 👏

🌿 Wellness Wednesday 💚

This week highlights Men’s Health Week UK (15–21 June 2026) — an annual campaign focused on raising awareness of men’s physical and mental health, encouraging early support, and breaking down stigma around seeking help.

Looking after men’s health is an important part of overall wellbeing — from promoting healthy lifestyles to encouraging open conversations, we can help create supportive environments at home, work and in our communities.

✨ Small steps can make a big difference:

• Encourage regular health check-ups and screenings

• Start conversations about mental health and wellbeing

• Stay active — even short walks can boost physical and mental health

• Reach out and check in with friends, family or colleagues

Free resources, advice and support are available to help men take positive steps towards better health — and to help others support them too.

👋 Hi, I’m Tilly, 17, Maths learner and Business Administration Level 3 Apprentice.

Maths has always been a barrier for me, and I used to struggle with confidence. At school, I often felt like I didn’t understand it, and I’d end up distracting others because I didn’t want to feel like I was falling behind. Eventually, I just gave up.

When I enrolled at HTAE, I was really anxious about starting again. But everything changed when I received the right support. I had a proper dyslexia assessment and finally began to understand how I learn best. With tools like coloured paper, a reader, and more one-to-one support in a smaller class, I started to get to grips with maths in a way I never had before.

The supportive atmosphere made such a difference, and I’ve learned to stay positive and keep going, even when things feel difficult.
Now I’ve passed my maths, and I’m nearly ready to progress to gateway in my apprenticeship — something that once felt out of reach.

🗣️ “Maths has always been a barrier for me, but with great teaching and the right dyslexia support, I was able to understand how I learn, pass my maths, and gain the confidence to move forward.”
