I do love being able to take the children to local playgroups so that they can explore new settings, toys and interact with new children. We're very lucky to have some amazing playgroups local to us that we use on a weekly basis πβΊοΈ

Last month a lot of our time had been spent outside, making the most of the sunshine βοΈ but we did find lots of ways to have fun inside! We've been looking at colours, caring for babies, practicing our fine motor skills with pens, paints, playdough and tweezers as well as, exploring new textures with ice π§

A few months ago I attended a sleep workshop so that I could help one of my children fall asleep a little easier, as this is something that she struggles with. Sleep is so important for our little ones so I thought I'd share some of the information from the workshop.
1 - Melatonin is integral for helping us to sleep, whilst cortisol (the stress hormone) is the opposite, so trying to keep stress away as much as possible will help with falling asleep.
2 - A golden hour before bedtime filled with calming activities and preferably no screen time.
3 - Sleepy foods for supper could help with falling to sleep. Some of these are bananas, cheese, yogurt, wholemeal bread and cherries.
4 - Trying to have consistent bedtimes βΊοΈ

It's been a lovely start to the school year at Daisy Belles. The children's interests have largely led to the garden and exploring our toys outside in the sunshine βοΈ We're also very lucky to have some wonderful play groups close by that the children enjoy visiting and a local play park which the after school children always want to visit on the way home!

We've had a busy few weeks at Daisy Belles filled with corn flour and jelly messy play, painting, tea parties, visiting play groups and disco dancing in the kitchen! We've also had our annual quality assurance visit and I'm pleased to say it went really well and we are officially 'good with outstanding areas' π

It's been a busy first week back after the summer holidays but it's been lovely to see old faces and welcome new ones π We started the week with a trip to Adventure Land. We have visited the park and the children have reacquainted themselves with our toys indoors and outdoors ππ§©π§Έ

I was feeling very lucky yesterday to be within a short walking distance to our local play park. The girls had a great time playing together and the smiles on their faces definitely showed it π π

Yesterday was environment day so today we looked at how we can help creatures that live in our local environment. We made bug hotels to put in our gardens and we used flowers in our playdough and talked about what they need to grow and how they support our wildlife. We also squeezed in a little bird watching! πͺ²πΌπ¦

Yesterday was all about pouring and tipping with containers. We used small bears in our tea set to make pretend tea. π« We then took this idea outside and practised pouring with water, which is great for physical development. It didn't take long for the shoes and socks to come off so the girls could have a paddle. A great way to explore part of our natural world π§ I do love following the children's interests π

Today we made, decorated and ate biscuits to celebrate world baking day! This particular recipe was incredibly sticky so we decided to save some for messy play πͺπ€€

Today we celebrated the coming coronation of King Charles. The children made and decorated paper crowns and we had traditional scones for lunch. ππ¬π§
