Hello everybody. I am making this video to share some valuable information.

On the 16th May I went to the Deaf Expo in Birmingham. There were many stalls to see, all with different information. One of them had some new information that was so fascinating I thought I would share it.

There is a new app called SignPort- this is its BSL sign.

The app is for both deaf people and interpreters. I have an information leaflet, which I will photograph and add it to this post later.

One way I can book interpreter is to directly email or contact them and then, wait (quite a while) for a response, to see if an interpreter is available.

This app was set up in Scotland last year and is becoming more popular and spreading further into the rest of the UK.

Once you have downloaded the app you can set up your own account. If you want to book an interpreter you fill in the information on the app, for example the date, time and Information about the booking. The app will then send this to all of the interpreters that have registered on the app and said they are available.

When an interpreter receives the job notification they can look at the information and see if they are available and would like to apply. This means interpreters don’t have to look at lots of emails throughout the day whilst they are interpreting and reply. When the interpreter looks at the app they can simply click to accept a job. The app will automatically notify me which interpreters have said they are available.

My work colleague Annabel has set this app up on her phone and said it is useful, I haven’t set it up myself yet but I will later on.

Annabel has shared some information previously so, I will add it to the end of this video along with a picture of the leaflet.

Bye for now.
