Shape sorting ⏹️

On the maths table children are busy sorting out 2D shapes. Some children talked about the colour of the shapes while other children discussed how many corners and sides each shape has. We introduced the children to the names of each shape and talked about similarities and differences between each one.

Winter Sparkles ❄️

For today’s fine motor activity, the children collected some icy leaves from our garden. We brought the leaves inside then used glue and glitter to decorate them. Using the pinching motion with our fingers, when we sprinkled the glitter, helps us develop our fine motor skills so that we’re prepared for learning how to write when we start school.

The Nutcracker numbers 🔢

Our story of the week was The Nutcracker and we had great fun counting the soldiers into the bags. We lined the soldiers up to count them carefully, some of us were able to find the corresponding number bag to put the soldiers into.

Christmas in the community 🎅

At Bright Beginnings we love to get involved with our local community. Colin the pebble painter lives nearby and he invited us to see all of his wonderful pebble creations! We loved playing with the Winter Wonderland that he created.

Polar Express 🚂

The children enjoyed our small area activity this week when we turned our train set into the Polar Express! All aboard!!

Gingerbread man 🥣

We enjoyed some ginger play dough today. We added ginger to our play dough and talked about how it smelt. We used play dough cutters and tools to make our own gingerbread people.

Outdoor fun!

Today we made a road using tyres and planks of wood. We worked together to decide how many tyres and planks we would need then we had lots of fun playing with the cars and balancing on the road we’d made.
