On Thursday 25 June, Coombeshead Science welcomed 11 students from Rydon Primary School for a hands-on science workshop. The session focused on the circulatory system, beginning with a heart dissection demonstration before students had the opportunity to have a go themselves.
The students were fantastic and fully engaged throughout. They explored the structure of the heart, identifying the chambers and valves, and examined sections of arteries from the samples. This allowed them to feel how stretchy and strong the artery walls are to withstand the high pressure of blood flow.
The workshop then moved on to learning about blood, where students created their own model blood. They were able to confidently explain the components of blood and describe their roles.
Mrs Marsh thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon with such enthusiastic and capable young people, who did Rydon Primary School proud.
