Our final goodbye 🤍

Wow… what a whirlwind couple of weeks. I’ve laughed about it, cried about it, and completely flip-flopped over making this huge life decision — but deep down I know it’s the right one for all of us.

Through hard work and dedication, my little business has grown from a class of 7 into a franchise that spans the UK, and I’m so incredibly proud of that. It’s also why it’s so hard to say goodbye.

I cannot thank my friends, family, franchisees, customers, followers and biggest cheerleaders enough for making this journey so special. I’ve learnt so many new skills, overcome challenges I never imagined, and had the most amazing 10 years.

Something you may not know is that I have sold the entire franchise to one of my wonderful franchisees, who I know will continue to grow our special classes and bring them to even more families. I truly am stepping away from it all.

But my biggest thanks has to go to my husband, Paul Dixon For the late nights laminating, packing bags and sorting resources. For cars full of kit heading to events. For giving up the garage (and most of the house!) to make this dream work. For cleaning up after messy play, riding the highs and lows of business, and supporting me every single step of the way. None of this would have been possible without you — and now, finally, you can have the man cave you’ve always deserved!

As this chapter closes, I’m choosing to focus on gratitude. What a privilege it has been to build something from scratch, to see it grow, and to watch so many families enjoy it over the years.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Truly.

EQUIPMENT FOR SALE

Part of winding down my area is selling all my kit (and if you have been to class you know there is a lot!) It is ideal for anyone starting up a group or wanting to add to their resources.

Some brand new in packaging, some new but no packaging, some used but plenty of life left!

I have a spreadsheet with everything left for sale as well as prices. If anyone would like to see the list, drop a comment saying LIST below and I will send it to you. P&P to be added or collection from me in Paignton.

At the moment, I won't be selling individual items or small sensory packs as there is just too much to do this with. If anything is left st the end, I may consider this to finish everything off.

Can you help me celebrate?
It's the end of an era and yesterday I spent some time thinking about my journey that started almost a decade ago.

This wonderful group of mummies and their babies pictured below were some of the first through the doors of Story Sense, my little idea that grew from a tiny seed with no idea if anyone would get on board. I have been lucky enough to see most of them grow into wonderful young children.

I was blown away that every single week, they came to see what I had to share next to support their children's development. My classes grew from our first location to over 16 classes a week, in 6 locations plus parties and events.

But one thing I didn't consider at the start was how I would go on to support the parents and grandparents too. I spent nearly every year adding to my knowledge, reading or completing courses that meant I could help in as many ways as possible...story massage, infant holistic sleep, mental health first aider, supporting autism through play just to name a few!

On top of that, I have made so many wonderful friends throughout the years that I still speak with or see, our children playing together.

I would love to celebrate the end of my time with Story Sense, my 4th baby, by remembering all the highs throughout the years. Please comment below with your fondest memories and tag the friends you made through our classes. I would so love to be reminded of all those special moments to treasure. ❤️

Whilst I will no longer be on here, I hope whoever eventually decides its their time to write a story like mine, knows how fulfilling and special running these classes are. If that is you, you know where I am x

A new year brings some big changes at Story Sense Torbay! I want to share a decision that hasn’t been made lightly.

After nearly 9 years of running Story Sense Torbay, and working with hundreds of local families, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from running the business locally.

Story Sense has been a huge part of my life for almost a decade. I’m so proud of what it’s become, the community it’s served, and the memories and friends made along the way. But over the past year, our family has needed more of my time and energy, and I’ve realised I can’t continue to give Story Sense Torbay what it deserves while juggling everything else.

I want to be very clear and reassure families that everything currently booked in the diary will be going ahead as planned. All parties and sessions already arranged will continue as normal, so there’s no need for anyone to worry.

While I still own the franchise at present, I am now offering Story Sense Torbay for sale. This is an opportunity for someone to take on a well-established, much-loved local business and continue the work I’ve been doing with families in the area.

With so many incredible stalls highlighting lots of independent businesses, you don't want to miss it! Head down to Goodrington beach on the 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st December and grab something festive to eat whilst shopping for those last minute stocking fillers. If you are on the train of lights travelling past, make sure to give those at the market a wave! 🎄 Please go and show them your support (and for anyone who had Mykaela as a class leader...she's organised most of it so go and say hi!)

We're just 5 days away from the start of our brand new Christmas Market hosted at Splashdown Quaywest.

Right next to the golden sands of Goodrington beach, we are hosting a Christmas market full of locally crafted, unique gifts (perfect stocking fillers for the big day🎁) as well as hosting some very important causes and hopefully spreading lots of festive cheer 🎄

This time last year I had been speaking to Jamie and Amanda on radio about our tradition of a birthday tree. Here I am getting ready to celebrate Reggie's second year around the sun with his tree, full of photo memories from throughout the year, remembering all the adventures.

I find it really helps me too. I am terrible with mum guilt, never feeling I have done enough or played enough with them. This one moment that I get 3 times a year for the kids helps me to reflect on how much we have done, what they have achieved and how very loved they all are.

So happy 2nd birthday to our smallest baby. You are such a happy and beautiful boy with the kindest heart and we are so in awe of you. ❤️
