Dear Friends

Please put Wednesday 18th December, 7.30pm, in your diaries!

We are extending a warm welcome to everyone to return to the site of Langley Hill Independent School, to the theatre, and to join us for a festive carol concert. Claudio Di Meo will be hosting the evening.

Details of what we will be offering are not yet finalised; if there is someone out there who would like to perform a piece of seasonal music, a song, or recite a poem, on their own or as part of a group, please contact me, Steffi Cook, on [email protected], so I can co-ordinate the programme.

After the concert we will be serving mince pies and fruit punch in the Dining Room - this will be a fundraiser by some young people from the community to help with the cost of an History of Art trip to Italy.

We look forward to seeing you all! Please help us spread the word!

The wonderful mosaic designed by Lara and spear-headed by Theresa is being installed this week - such a master piece! We look forward to sharing the unveiling with you - we'll keep you posted when we have date - watch this space :)

To our community,

We write to you to correct significant misconceptions you may have been given in respect of the reasons why the school closed.

You will be aware that in August 2017 The Council of Trustees and Tim Byford, Principal, issued a Public Statement, that included:

“In particular, the school wishes to apologise for any suggestion that may have been made in the past by school leaders or staff, publicly or privately, that family members who had raised concerns about safeguarding or SEN provision were the cause of the difficulties the school has found itself in. The latter is wholly and entirely of its own making”

However, despite issuing this public statement it is evident that Trustee Board Members and senior leaders at the school did not act, least of all decisively or assertively, to redress the issues of blame attributed by the wider parent group to families who had raised concerns about safeguarding and SEN provision in the past. As a result, a false narrative continued unchecked.

Our failure to act caused distress to families and their children and we seek to put that right now. We wholeheartedly condemn the false narrative that ex-parents were responsible for the closure of the school. The school closed for its failure to meet the Independent School Standards.

We have now offered our sincere apologise to the families for our failure to challenge the false narrative and for the immense distress caused.

We wish to re-iterate the key message from our earlier public statement:

The latter is wholly and entirely of its own making”

The school closed for its failure to meet the Independent School Standards.

We are excited to announce a series of Open Events for parents to find out more about sending their child to Langley Hill Independent School. The events are for parents interested in Kindergarten, Lower School, and Middle School (ages 2 to 14).

Our first events are on:

Thursday 21st March: 7:30pm-9pm
Saturday 23rd March: 10am-11:30am

They will be hosted at the site of the school, Langley Hill, Kings Langley, WD4 9HG.
