Started in the 1980's, we have 40 years of experience in providing early years childcare, from our two nurseries based in North Lynn and Reffley. Our nursery welcomes little ones six months through to the age of five. We are a registered childcare setting accepting the 15 hours and 30 hours free child scheme, and the tax free childcare offered by the Government. Both nurseries provide a warm and i

nviting environment, managed by a team of qualified and experienced early years childcare education specialists; all helping to nurture and stimulate a child’s growth; developing their cognitive, physical, emotional, creative and social skills to prepare them for school. Tom Thumb Nursery at The Willows in North Lynn, and Tom Thumb Nursery in Reffley, are dedicated to providing exceptional early childhood education and daycare service for 38 weeks of a year.

Special Moments Together ❤️

✨ Some of the most meaningful learning happens during those quieter one-to-one moments between our team and the children. Yes these are moments we have shared already earlier in the month but we are grateful to have an amazing inspiring team that put smiles one little ones faces. Whether it’s problem solving, building together, creating artwork or simply enjoying a conversation or a selfies, these special interactions allow us to truly support every child’s individual interests and development. It’s also great memories for our team!

✨ Our incredible team are passionate about nurturing every child, celebrating every milestone and helping each little learner feel safe, valued and confident. These strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do, and it has been a privilege to watch each child’s personality shine brighter with every passing day.

Finding Their Voice 💬

❤️ Communication is at the heart of everything we do. Throughout the year we have encouraged our children to express themselves, listen carefully, follow instructions and build meaningful relationships with both their friends and our dedicated team.

🌱 Whether sharing exciting stories during circle time, such as the occasion when Chelsie brought in chicken eggs and we had many inquisitive little ones. Singing favourite nursery rhymes or working together during play or baking, every conversation has supported language development and growing confidence.

✨ Watching children who were once quiet become confident communicators has been one of our greatest achievements and a wonderful reminder of just how much every child has grown this year.

Little Problem Solvers at Work 🧩

🌱 Every day has brought exciting opportunities for our children to think, investigate and solve problems together. Whether completing puzzles, matching colours and shape, taking advantage of natural weather situations outdoors to working out how something works, our little learners have embraced every challenge with determination and enthusiasm.

✨ Problem solving is an important life skill that encourages children to think independently, persevere and celebrate their achievements. It has been wonderful watching our children work together, share ideas and discover that trying something new is all part of the learning journey. We couldn’t be prouder of the confidence and resilience they have developed throughout the year.

Where Children’s Ideas Come to Life 🎨

✨ Some of the most memorable moments this year have come from the wonderful ideas our children have created themselves. From transforming role play areas into cafés, homes and shops to building impressive constructions, creating small world adventures and inventing exciting outdoor games, posing with one of our amazing ladies in yoga star positions and more. The children’s imaginations have led the learning every single day, sparking interests and exploring many fun tuff trays activities!

🌱 Child-initiated learning allows children to explore what interests them most whilst developing creativity, communication and teamwork. Watching friendships grow naturally as children invited one another into their games has been a real highlight of the year, proving that some of the very best learning happens when children are given the freedom to lead.

Growing Through Independent Play 🌟

✨ One of the greatest joys of the nursery year has been watching our children confidently make their own choices through independent play. Whether exploring the classroom, discovering exciting activities outdoors or creating imaginative games with their friends, every day has provided opportunities for children to follow their own interests and develop their independence.

🌱 Independent play encourages children to become confident learners, problem solvers and decision makers. It has been wonderful to watch their confidence flourish as they challenged themselves, explored new experiences and proudly celebrated their own achievements. Knowing our caring team were also always there to encourage and support them every step of the way gave them confidence and confirmation of their learning journeys on key subjects such as maths and number problem solving.

Learning Through Movement 🙌 ✨

🤸🏻 There has been no shortage of adventure at The Willows this year! From exciting gymnastic sessions and energetic outdoor games to riding bikes, climbing, balancing and exploring our wonderful outdoor environment, every activity has encouraged children to build strong, healthy bodies whilst having lots of fun.

🌈 Alongside our physical adventures, we have also discovered the wonders of the world around us. Whether searching for rainbows after the rain, talking about nature, exploring seasonal changes or asking endless curious questions about nature, the children have learnt that every outdoor adventure is an opportunity to discover something new. It’s amazing what can be learnt when curiosity leads the way!

Every Mark Tells a Story ✏️

🌱 Throughout the year our children have been developing the skills that will prepare them for the exciting next stage of their education. From mark making with paint, chalk and natural materials to practising pencil control and strengthening little hands through creative activities, every experience has helped build confidence and independence.

✨ Writing begins long before children write their first letters, and we have loved celebrating every stage of that journey. Watching the children proudly recognise their names, develop pencil control and create their own wonderful artwork has been a fantastic reminder that every achievement deserves to be celebrated.

Opening the Door to Imagination 📚

✨ Books have transported us on countless adventures this year. Whether snuggled together during carpet time, relaxing in our cosy book corner or enjoying interactive stories during circle time, every book has inspired imagination, curiosity and a love of learning. Basing fun activities around the books 📚 were our highlights to developing understanding and a love of the stories we all read together.

🌱 Story time became one of our favourite parts of the day, encouraging children to listen carefully, ask questions, predict what might happen next and join in with familiar words and phrases to support communication and language. It has been wonderful watching our children’s confidence grow as they discover that every book opens the door to a brand-new adventure.

After a reflection of our year, we’ve seen some incredible friendships that will last a lifetime 💙

🌱 One of the most rewarding parts of the nursery year has been watching beautiful friendships blossom. From welcoming new friends into our nursery family to sharing adventures, celebrating achievements and supporting one another through play, our children have formed bonds that have grown stronger with each passing day.

✨ As these friendships have flourished, so too has each child’s confidence. Through playing together, learning to share, taking turns and communicating with one another, our little learners have developed valuable social skills that will support them throughout their educational journey. We are incredibly proud of every smile, every act of kindness and every friendship that has been made this year.
