A YOUNG DAD. A BUSINESS OWNER. A MAN WHO MADE HIS HEALTH A PRIORITY. 🦁

Meet Jack Mctiernan. His story is about SO much more than fitness.

Jack joined Mission:FIT in January following a car accident and serious back injury that ended his football days. He’d gained weight and struggled to find consistency in commercial gyms.

But from day one, he threw himself into it.

Classes. Open gym. Hard graft. CONSISTENCY.

In June, we started what became three months of PT.

His goal? And I quote…

“To get musclier and toned but not too skinny.” 😂💪🏼

We focused on strength, nutrition, performance, recovery and accountability.

THE RESULTS? INCREDIBLE. 👇🏼

🏃🏼 5KM — 19:48
🏃🏼 10KM — 40:25
🏃🏼 Half Marathon — 1:28
🥇 REDLINE — GOLD
🥇 THE DROP UK — GOLD
🥈 GYM SYNC — SILVER
🔥 HYBRID GAMES — 1:09 Mixed Doubles

From HATING running and blowing after 3km to achieving ALL THAT in months!

But here’s what makes Jack’s story special…

He’s a young dad with a baby boy at home. He runs his own business. He’s got responsibilities, pressures and commitments like everyone else.

He’s NOT a professional athlete. He doesn’t have endless hours to train.

He’s simply made his HEALTH a PRIORITY without sacrificing everything else that matters.

Our non-negotiables were simple:

🏋🏼 Strength training — ALWAYS
😴 Rest days — ALWAYS
🥩 Calories & protein — ALWAYS
💊 Supplements — A useful tool
🤝 Accountability — ALWAYS

No magic tricks. No extreme restrictions. No obsession with doing MORE.

Just intelligent training, quality nutrition, recovery and CONSISTENCY.

Being busy doesn’t mean your health has to come last.

I’m genuinely proud to call Jack a friend. As a client, he’s absolutely blown me away.

Not just with his medals or physical progress, but with his attitude, character and the example he’s setting.

For himself. His family. And one day, for that wee boy watching his dad. ❤️

Jack, it’s been a privilege being part of your journey.

And the best part? You’re only getting started.

Well done, bud. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

STRONG : FIT : FAST 🦁

On Saturday, myself and Jack headed along to REDLINE @ 147 Functional Fitness and came away with the win. 🥇

But more than the result, this one summed up exactly what I love about training.

It’s cool to be strong as an ox.
It’s cooler to be strong as f**k AND fast.
But being STRONG, FIT and FAST?

That’s the goal. 🔥

The event demanded a bit of everything and the ability to keep producing when fatigue started asking some serious questions.

In Workout 1 I pulled a 200kg deadlift before we smashed a 4:36 mile.

Then later, when the lungs were properly opened up, I was able to hold around 1700–2000 cals/hour on the ergs when it mattered.

For me, THAT is fitness.

Not being the strongest person in the room.

Not being the fastest person in the room.

Not having the biggest engine in isolation.

It’s building a body that can lift heavy, move fast, work hard and keep f**king going.

Strength that doesn’t disappear when your heart rate climbs.

Fitness that doesn’t come at the expense of strength.

Speed that you can still access when your legs are cooked.

Capability.

And Jack… what a shift. 👏

Knowing what he’s been through with his back, watching the work he’s put in and seeing how far his fitness has come made standing on top of that podium together even better.

The boy absolutely smashed it.

Proud of you mate. ❤️

Massive props to 147 Functional Fitness for putting together a seriously good event. Very competitive and a lot of well-rounded athletes, the competition was strong and we had to work for every bit of that result.

And congratulations to everyone else who competed and stood on those podiums. Some serious engines on display. 🤝

For me, another reminder of why I train the way I train and why I’ll continue encouraging the people around me to build fitness without putting themselves in a box.

Lift weights.

Run.

Build an engine.

Move well.

Get uncomfortable.

Be hard to kill 😂

wearing the FIT across our chest with a hell of a lot of pride and plenty of grit. 🧡🖤

STRONG. FIT. FAST.

That’ll do me 🦁

ADDING LOAD WHERE THE DUMBBELLS LOSE IT 🧠💪🏼

The red bands here aren’t just there to make the exercise harder.

They’re being used to change the resistance profile of the press.

As you press the dumbbells upwards, the bands stretch and progressively increase in tension meaning there’s more resistance towards the top of the movement, where the pecs are moving into a more shortened position.

With the angle and direction of the press, we’re looking to bias the clavicular fibres of the pectoralis major the upper pec.

So rather than simply adding more weight to the dumbbells, the bands allow us to add additional stimulus specifically towards the top of the movement.

Less resistance at the bottom ➡️ progressively more resistance towards the top.

It’s not always about lifting more weight.

Sometimes it’s about manipulating where in the movement you’re asking the muscle to work hardest. 🧠

Save this and give it a go in your next push session 💾
