There are measurements being put in place by the dvsa over the next couple of months to try and reduce test waiting times and stop 'bots' buying up the test slots! The first of these have now been put into place from yesterday! Here's what you need to know:
CHANGES TO SWAPPING TESTS - FROM 12th MAY 2026
From Tuesday 12th May the DVSA will only accept swap requests for the learner with the test(s) booked.
The NEW process for swapping tests:
BOTH learners need to be available at the SAME TIME!
- Learner A calls the DVSA on 0300 200 1122 to request a swap.
- Learner A gives the details of their test
- Learner A give the DVSA agent the BOOKING REFERENCE of Learner B
- The DVSA agent will look up the test details for Learner B
- The DVSA agent will put a Learner A on hold and call Learner B using the telephone number on file for the booking.
- Learner B gives the details of their test
If all the details are correct the DVSA agent will then process the swap. No email will be generated. The learner can log in to their test via the GovUK website to see the change has been made.
If there is no telephone number on file for Learner B then the swap cannot be processed.
If Learner B does not answer the phone when the DVSA agent calls then the swap cannot be processed.
Learner B does NOT need to give any other information to Learner A other than their test booking reference number. No personal information, such as full name, address or driving licence number, needs to be shared between learners.

*CANCELLATION POLICY*
Just a reminder to everyone that I have a 24 hour cancellation policy in place. If you cancel your lesson within that time then you will be charged for the lesson.
Self employed people don't get all the benefits that being in employment brings with holiday pay or sick pay and such so please help us out here and be mindful when booking/cancelling lessons.
I dont actually just do this job for fun, although I do enjoy it a lot. I do it to provide for my family. And last minute cancellations affect my wage which can then directly affect my family. (Feeding a growing child and 2 furry children takes a lot ππ)
Imagine you know what you are going to get for the week....you turn up for your shift but your boss sends you home and no payment for that day.....not ideal eh....same here!!! It's not just about 1 wee cancellation....when there's more it adds up! So my policy is in place to protect my income!
Anyone in the self employed industry will have similar procedures in place! You've booked a service and we've booked out the time and the 'tools' needed for your service. So please be mindful.
Thanks guys π

18 years ago today I passed my driving test and was then away loving life in my wee old X reg Corsa! I loved that wee old car π gaining freedom like that was one of the best things I've done!
Unfortunately today I'm off the road with a wee engine management light on so getting that checked out later to see what's what π€¦π»ββοΈπ cars π best and worst things!!
Things have changed on the roads since I learned....2 of the main things being how busy the roads are now and a lot of people's attitudes on the roads are awful. I'd love to see more patience on the roads!! We find ourselves rushing around too much in life but the roads are no place to be messing about. Have a little consideration for others folks! Make life a little calmer where we canππ»π
