Swaddling is a technique that has been used for many centuries and in recent years it has become a popular settling technique in the Netherlands and some parts of the USA and UK. In the UK, about 19% of babies are swaddled in the first 4 weeks of life.
Have a look below to see the benefits of safe swaddling.
To practise safe swaddling you can buy specially made swaddle wraps, or swaddle your baby loosely in a lightweight blanket. You should also stop swaddling your baby at around 3 months, before they begin to roll over.

🚨 Dads, we see you! 🚨
When people think about baby classes, they often picture mums… but dads are just as important in a baby’s life too. ❤️
Dads bring something special to the mix. Research shows that babies benefit hugely from positive male role models. From building confidence and resilience to encouraging problem-solving and independence, dads help shape little minds in incredible ways.
Let’s be honest though… dads also tend to be the ones responsible for the highest baby “airtime” and teaching babies that being upside down is apparently the height of entertainment. 🤣
Whether it’s singing nursery rhymes completely out of tune, becoming a human climbing frame, or mastering the art of the one-handed nappy change, dads have a way of making everyday moments memorable.
This week, as we celebrate all the amazing men in our babies’ lives, we’re giving a big shout-out to dads, grandads, stepdads, uncles, and all the male role models who show up with love, laughter, and plenty of questionable dance moves. 💙

🚨 BIG NEWS FOR DADS IN KILMARNOCK! 🚨
I am absolutely delighted to be hosting the incredible Dads Rock group from my venue at My5s Football, Kilmarnock! 💙
I’ve worked alongside Dads Rock for a couple of years now and I genuinely love the work they do to support dads, children and families. They create such a welcoming, relaxed and inclusive environment where dads can spend quality time with their little ones while connecting with other local dads.
Every Monday at 6pm, dads and children aged 0–5 can enjoy an environment filled with play, laughter, exploration and friendship. 🥁✨
Being a parent can sometimes feel like you’re figuring it all out on your own, which is why groups like this are so important. Dads Rock provides a space where dads can meet, chat, share experiences and make lasting memories with their children in a completely judgement-free setting. ❤️
And who knows… there may even be the occasional sneaky appearance from me too! 👀🎶
This is such an amazing opportunity for local dads and I’m so proud to help bring this fantastic group to our community.

👶 “They’re too young to get anything from a class yet…” 👶
I hear this ALL the time… and honestly, I used to think the same before I discovered Baby Sensory! 💛
The truth is, when it comes to babies, younger is often better.
In those first few months, your baby’s brain is developing at an incredible rate. Every new sound, texture, movement and experience helps build important neural connections. While it might look like they’re simply lying on a mat staring at lights, there is SO much learning happening behind those adorable little eyes. ✨
But Baby Sensory isn’t just for babies…
💛 It gives parents a chance to slow down and enjoy uninterrupted quality time together.
💛 It helps you discover new ways to play, interact and support your baby’s development at home.
💛 It builds confidence as you learn more about your baby’s cues and milestones.
💛 It gets you out of the house (because we all know those four walls can start closing in during maternity leave!).
💛 And perhaps most importantly, it helps you connect with other parents who are navigating the same sleepless nights and overflowing laundry baskets.
There is no pressure for your baby to sit, crawl, clap or join in. Whether they’re snoozing through half the class, feeding, or simply taking it all in, they’re benefiting from the experience in their own way.
So if you’ve been wondering whether your baby is “too young” for Baby Sensory…
The question might actually be: Why wait? 💙

🚨 Wait… how is it Friday already?! 🚨
Honestly, I feel like I’m barely processing one week before the next one arrives! 😅
It’s been another wonderful week of Rhythm & Rhymes at Baby Sensory, filled with singing, dancing, and laughter 💕
My personal favourite this week has been The Grand Old Duke of York. Yes, I saw some of the parental eye-rolls 😂 but I could also hear you all singing along, see the smiles on your faces and hear those gorgeous baby giggles. That makes it completely worth it!
Next week we’ll be celebrating all the wonderful males in our babies’ lives as Father’s Day approaches 💙
Classes remain fully booked at the moment, but with the summer holidays approaching and lots of our older babies graduating, spaces will start becoming available over the coming weeks.
✨ If you’ve been thinking about joining us, make sure you’re on the waitlist so you’re the first to hear when spaces open.

👀🎶 Peek-a-Boo Musical Statues – the game you never knew you needed! 🎶👀
Peek-a-boo is one of every baby’s favourite games. The anticipation, the surprise, the giggles… it never gets old! But what happens when you mix peek-a-boo with musical statues? Magic! ✨
This simple but exciting activity does so much more than create smiles. As babies listen carefully for the music to stop, they are developing important listening and concentration skills. The start-and-stop nature of the game also helps them begin to understand cause and effect, build anticipation, and develop their awareness of sound and movement.
Most importantly, it’s a wonderful opportunity to share laughter, connection, and special moments together.

🤱💙 Scottish Breastfeeding Week 💙🤱
This week marks Scottish Breastfeeding Week, and I wanted to take a moment to remind every parent attending Baby Sensory that you are always welcome to feed your baby in class.
As a breastfeeding mum myself, I know just how important it is to feel comfortable, supported and never judged. Whether you’re still figuring feeding out in those early weeks or months, or you’re a seasoned pro, please know that you can feed your baby whenever and wherever they need it.
I still remember the anxiety of needing to feed my baby but feeling too nervous to do it in public. I remember rushing off to sit in the car, and sometimes even hiding away in a toilet. Looking back now, it makes me sad that I felt I had to do that.
You have every right to feed your baby whenever and wherever your baby needs you.
Breastfeeding can be one of the most beautiful parts of motherhood, but it can also be incredibly challenging—both physically and mentally. Some days it feels easy, and other days it can feel overwhelming.
While I may not always have all the answers, there is a wonderful community of parents in our classes who understand exactly what you’re going through. Sometimes a reassuring smile, a shared experience, or a simple “I’ve been there too” can make all the difference.
So if your baby needs fed during class, please feed them. If you need a moment, take it. If you need support, ask for it.
Your baby comes first, always. 💙
