This weather can stay as long as it likes ☀️

Save the date!

Our annual Playday event is coming to Kay Park this year on Wednesday 2 August. We can't wait to see you for a fun filled day for the whole family.

This year's theme is Playing on a shoestring – making every day an adventure.

This year’s theme focuses on the everyday low-cost or no-cost play adventures that children can enjoy at home, in settings, and in our communities.

Play opportunities don’t need to involve expensive activities, costly toys, or trips to far-off destinations. It is often the simplest ideas, the free and found opportunities, which offer the most fun, and are the most developmentally beneficial for children and young people.

More info coming soon! 🥰

Hoppy Easter Everybunny 🐣🐰🪺
Hope you all have a lovely holiday weekend and I’ll see you after the holidays!

🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉Hello everyone🎉🎊🎉🎊

I know as you all do that in this country we have thousands of Early Years settings and schools, a lot of people associated with these look at Facebook.
Years ago I was a childminder and I know what is expected of these settings and how expensive resources are and that the quality of items offered by the big companies/consortiums is not always value for money.
This is how I became involved in setting up my business to offer quality items at a sensible price, the problem is Facebook have changed how things work and it seems very few people see what us small concerns have to offer.
I have updated my shop and still try to keep my prices low.
I now offer a challenge who will have a look at my Made to Measure page, my shop and share both with colleagues, freinds etc. and let people know what great items I have on offer.
Thanks for taking the time to read this

This may be helpful for families this Easter.

Please check with individual venues before travelling.

We talked about family and pets today, the children loved talking about their homes and families.
Lots of new language and communication skills and learning about each other, taking turns to listen and talk.

1. They are not just Early Years Practitioners, they are teachers. Their lesson plan every day includes: how to share, how to use 'Kind hands” and “walking feet,” how to say please and thank you, how to walk behind someone without pushing, how to take turns, and how to have “listening ears.” They educate themselves with qualifications and degrees, they educate our youngest little people , they nurse the poorly , they comfort the grazed knee. They risk assess , they observe , they plan , they action , they record.

They are masters of food hygiene , allergies, manual handling , Health and safety , and are Paediatric First aid trained.

2. They are not just teachers. They are also cleaners and nurses. They make injures feel better and dry up tears. They spray, wipe, sanitize, sweep, mop, and take out the waste.

3. They are waitresses. They balance little trays and cups of milk. They pick up squashed peas off the floor. Scoop peaches when they ask for more. They feed , they teach children to self feed and to self serve.

4. They change 3 dirty nappies, within 10 minutes.

5. They get 6 little ducklings to follow in a row on their way to the playground. They headcount , oh how many times they headcount!

6. They tie tiny shoes. They help pull up tiny underwear and trousers. Fold tiny blankets. Wipe tiny noses , Multiply all of this by 6 or more on most days.

7. They are ready before parents go to work and don’t stop until the last child is picked up , as the second hand ticks to closing time.

8. They deal with sleep areas and blankets and dummies. They know who gets a dummy, who gets a 6 oz bottle, who has to have all the lights out, who will wake up early, who came in late and will lay awake.
They sit patting restless babies or toddlers to sleep. They spend the rest of nap time keeping the one early riser from waking the others , or quietly trying to update personal files. They carry out 10 min sleep checks to ensure your little one is safe.

9. At the end of the day they take care of their own families and homes, or their own children. They somehow find time to rest their tired feet, oh how tired their feet are!

10. They are patient and kind. They are trustworthy. They do their best with no promise of rest.

Their heart swells to see your child grow and learn and smile and play.
They laugh at the funny things children often say.
So say thank you to your Early Years Practitioner.
They are so much more than a carer for your child ❤️

📚World Book Day! 📚

Today is World Book Day - a worldwide celebration of books and reading!

📚There are so many different types of books - visit your local library and explore all the choices together!

⏰Reading to children for just 10 minutes a day is enough to make a huge difference to their development.

🎒Keep a book in your bag so you can read together anywhere: on the bus, in the park or waiting for an appointment.

🗨️ Talk about books together: your favourites, their favourites, the books at school or books in the library. This sparks interest and excitement!

👀Let your child see you reading books - modelling being a reader is a great way to encourage children to be readers too!

😆Most importantly, have fun reading together!

The bunnies have had lots of fun this week learning about the Chinese lunar new year of the rabbit 🐇
We found some programs on YouTube that told as all about the great race and coloured some pictures!
The bunnies were all gifted a lucky rabbit and some chocolate to mark the new year of the rabbit 🐰 🏠❤️

An Ode To A Childminder

There was a childminder who lived in a shoe
But being professional, she knew what to do.
She made best use of the space she could spare
And set up her home for family childcare.

She took CPR and First Aid classes, too
And brushed up on all the things that kids like to do.
She advertised, interviewed, contracted with glee
She counted the kids carefully—no more than three.

She fed them good meals and fresh fruit too,
She potty-trained Ben; helped Connor tie his shoe.
Collected art items and made a new batch of clay
And cut out cute pictures for a new theme’s display.

She changed, she bandaged, and she wiped every nose,
She comforted Amy when Murray stepped on her toes.
She cooked and she washed, scrubbing floors, scraping glue,
She recorded attendance; did her book keeping too.

She sent newsletters home about the kids in her care,
Gathered paintings etc, eager to share.
She read to the children while they sat on her lap,
And she sang to them softly when they started to nap.

She helped out at toddlers on a Halloween quest,
She spoon-fed the baby, then got him redressed.
She picked up and dusted when they went out the door,
She updated records, picked up toys, mopped the floor.

She started the laundry, checked the post, made a list
Of the shopping she needed and the chores that she’d missed.
She collapsed in a chair and put up her feet,
Then in came her family wanting something to eat.

She fed them all quickly, heard their stories, gave them hugs,
Then she rapidly washed up all the dishes and mugs.
As the family retired at the end of the day,
She got out some books to plan Mondays play.

She reflects on her day, in her eye there’s a gleam,
For this childminder is developing pride and esteem.
She works a long day and the hours aren’t fair,
But the kids that she works with get quality care.

Their parents commute to their worksites each day,
Concerns about childcare aren’t in their way.
They know that their children are loved and cared for,
By a childminder who plays, encourages and more.

If you live in a big house or even a shoe,
Great is the work that a childminder can do.
Be proud, stand up tall, wear a smile on your face,
You are helping tomorrow be a much better place ❤️

Happy Chinese New Year Bunnies, what a fab year for us !
The year of the Rabbit 🐇

The bunnies and I are very excited to be opening this box!

Earlier doesn’t always mean better.⁣⁣
Her kid walked at one year, yours walked at eighteen months, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 it doesn’t matter.⁣⁣
Her kid potty-trained at two years old, yours didn't potty-train until four years old, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 it doesn’t matter.⁣⁣
Her kid recognized all his letters and numbers before pre-school, yours had no interest until almost four, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 it doesn’t matter.⁣⁣
Her kid was sleeping through the night by three months, yours wasn’t sleeping through the night until two years old, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 it doesn’t matter.⁣⁣
Because reaching developmental milestones early means 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 in the long run.⁣⁣
Because a college professor won’t wonder how old her students were when they could count to one hundred or spell their names.⁣⁣
And no one will know or care if the Harvard graduate or the CEO had a pacifier or didn't potty-train until five years old.⁣⁣
What matters most is the whole child,⁣⁣
who 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 are,⁣⁣
and how kind 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 are⁣⁣
So let the pressure go,⁣⁣
and let your kids be kids.⁣⁣
Don’t rush them through their childhoods,⁣⁣
and make them miss out⁣⁣
because they’re too busy meeting milestone after milestone.⁣⁣
Besides, earlier doesn’t always mean better.
