What a fantastic community spirit we have! We are so grateful to Terry Cunningham for mending our basketball net! The net had come off and it was about to be put in the skip. Terry is one of the fishermen teaching KPS Woodland Warriors to tie knots and he took it away and brought it back today better than it ever was. Thank you once again, Terry - such skill!!

As you are no doubt aware, Monday, 23rd March 2026 is when you find out about pre-school places. The Education Authority (EA) will send an email that day to let you know whether or not you have a place and in which setting, and if it is Full-time or Part-time.

I will be sending an email to those who have be given a place in Kilkeel Nursery School, which will say if the place is Full-time or if it is Morning or Afternoon for the Part-time places. There will be a reply slip attached to my email to say if the place is being accepted or not, and that must be returned to me NO LATER than Wednesday, 1st April 2026. You also need to accept or reject the place on the EA application portal.

I will be using the email address used when you applied in January.

Don't forget that applications CLOSE on Wednesday 21st JAN at 12 noon. If you have a pre-pre child, and you're not sure about whether or not you'd want a place for next year if one became available - NOW is the time to apply!! You don't have to take a place if it is offered, but punctual applications are considered before late ones.

For your pre-school child, (one due to start in Sept 2026) if you are interested in both Full and Part-time with us, you need to make sure that you have applied as a separate choice for each one. Also, the statistics show that the birth rate is down for this year so that may be something to take into account when you are filling in your form. Applications can be amended up until the closing time on Wednesday.

Remember that the application process for pre-school places for 2026-2027 opens this Wednesday 7th January 2026 at 12 noon and closes on Wednesday 21st January 2026 at 12 noon. The link to the application form is below.

If you would like to discuss your application, I am available at the following times: all day Tuesday 13th and 20th until 4.00 pm, Thursday 15th from 2.00 pm - 6.00 pm and Monday 19th from 2.00 pm - 8.00 pm. I am also here most afternoons from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Do remember that I teach four days per week! You may wish to ring on 02841763109 to book an appointment.

Don't forget that our Open Afternoon is this Friday, 9th January from 1.00 pm - 3.00 pm and you are all very welcome to visit.

Remember that applications for Pre-school and P1 close TOMORROW, Friday 24th January 2025 at 12 noon. With the red weather warning and the possibility of interruptions to power, phones and internet, you are strongly advised to get your application submitted ASAP, as it may end up being late if you can't access the online portal tomorrow.
