⚽ What a fantastic week we’ve enjoyed at Cygnet Nursery, Kidlington, as we celebrated the excitement of the Men’s World Cup while exploring the world around us.
Children from every room came together to share in a range of football-inspired experiences, giving everyone the opportunity to learn, play and build new friendships across the nursery.
Here’s what we’ve been up to:
⚽ Our indoor and outdoor football pitch gave children the chance to run, kick, balance and score goals while developing their gross motor skills, listening skills, confidence and understanding of teamwork, turn-takingl and fair play.
⚽ The children had lots of fun playing our football-themed number game, where they matched footballs to the correct numbers on their boards. This hands-on activity encouraged number recognition, counting, problem-solving and concentration while making maths fun.
⚽ Our tabletop football game helped children develop their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and communication as they worked together and cheered each other on.
⚽ Children explored a variety of textured materials, encouraging sensory exploration, descriptive language and curiosity while supporting their understanding of different textures through hands-on play.
🎶 We also enjoyed singing, dancing and moving to World Cup songs, helping children develop rhythm, coordination and confidence while celebrating together.
Through these exciting activities, the children have been learning about the wider world, discovering how sport can connect people from different countries and cultures. It has been wonderful to see children of all ages learning alongside one another, sharing experiences and celebrating as one nursery community.
