Saturdays and Sundays are subject to cancellation/change when we have events on. Notes on new sessions (sessions in blue are new additions or adjustments):
Monday parents/seniors is a gentle, go-at-own pace learning session. If numbers quickly grow on this, other sessions may be added on different days. Stu’s two senior sessions are for younger/more competitive seniors. Nigel’s Tuesday session will not start until August 10th. The mat will be available 7-8pm before that by arrangement for informal senior practice. Tuesday experienced players will tend to be crash bang randori! Thursdays will be slightly more drills orientated, but both will be similar. WHEN TO BRING BEGINNERS:
U12 years: Friday or Saturday U8 or red belts session.
12-15 years: by arrangement, see Andrew
16+ years: either Matthew on Mondays or Stu on Tuesdays or Sundays, depending on age/intent. The Samurai judo club was formed in 1979 by Andrew Haffner - then only 19 years old - as a club dedicated to the pursuit of improvement. The philosophy behind the club was and remains to strive to be as good as you can, and be aware of all aspects of judo as well as just the competitive side. Although the club's competitive section has attracted the most publicity, the other fields in which the club is involved such as Kata, Refereeing and general technique remain very important. In 2012 the club finally achieved their dream of building their own premises (final cost around £1/3 million) which now provides them not only with a purpose built facility but a home they own. Now the club can focus totally on supporting and developing their players at all levels, from the once-a-week recreational types to those competing in events all over the country and Europe and occasionally beyond. The club is run by a Chief Coach (still Andrew Haffner) and committee, who are elected at an AGM to which all members and parents of junior members are invited. No club official or coach is paid, all are voluntary and all money received goes towards club expenses and activities. Accounts are presented at the AGM. Committee members and coaches names and phone numbers are on the notice boards and they may always be approached for help or advice. ALL NEW MEMBERS ARE WELCOME - the more the merrier.

Saturday July 18 Samurai Mini-Me (at Samurai JC) Weigh-in times

Boys (Up to 50 kg): 9.30 - 9.50 am
Boys (Over 50 kg): 11.00 - 11.30 pm
Girls (All): 12.30 - 1.00 pm

Please note that the (new) Technical Restrictions will be used for this event in all categories.

These are the times that players should arrive at the weigh-in. We aim to have players start competing within an hour of their weigh-in and finish not more than an hour after that, but we can never guarantee this: a few contests with very long golden scores soon wrecks our plans, as does no-shows.

If you are delayed on the day due to traffic, road closures and so on, please ring me on 0776 1122977.
Please make sure your players bring their BJA membership books and not just rely on the app.
Online entry is still open, but may close if we reach entry limits.
