The Teacher and Parent Partnership (TAPP) is a group of parent volunteers & teachers who’s role is to encourage closer links between home and school. Most parent & teacher groups are best known for fundraising, but they have a useful social function too. Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff & pupils to get to know each other better. Schools are becoming more dependent on th
eir parent & teacher groups to help them raise funds to enhance their environment & learning. The group discuss how to raise & spend funds; common items they help to provide are new books, playground/sports equipment, building improvements & art supplies as well as smaller things like Easter eggs & gifts from Father Christmas. Funds raised by TAPP are intended to provide ‘extras’ not already provided by schools main income ~often the fun things that make learning more interesting & exciting for our children. Being part of TAPP is a great way to help support the staff, meet new people and become more involved in the school. There are many wats people can help, whether you have lots of time to offer or not, coming along to meetings is a good way to find out what is being planned & is a chance to have your say, make suggestions & share new ideas. We understand time is precious, but there are many ways you can get involved, meetings, helping run the summer tuck shop, running a stall at the fete, taking part/helping at cake sales, selling raffle tickets....
The smallest amount of time you can give is always appreciated, even giving up 30 mins to set up or clear up after an event is invaluable to TAPP & the school - of course you can simply support events by attending to join in the fun. TAPP is open to parents, grandparents, careers & older siblings as well as members of the wider community.
