This week, Year 3 have been channelling their inner geologists, investigating rock hardness, whether different rocks float, and how they react to acid.

The experiments proved once again that science isn’t always about explosions 💥 and bubbling test tubes—sometimes it’s as simple as discovering which rock can scratch another!

It turns out, rocks definitely have a pecking order 🥇🥈🥉… and our young scientists 🧑‍🔬 absolutely loved finding out who came out on top! 🎉 ,date, discover

As part of Reception's new topic, 'Our Wonderful World', we have been creating African animal pictures based on the art work of Picasso. The children started off by looking at Picasso's art work, talking about what that could see and sharing what they liked about his paintings. They then used their imagination and creativity to create their wonderful masterpieces! 🎨🖌️

🍍🍌🍊 A 'Fruitastic' First Week Back! 🍊🍌🍍
Reception have had a wonderful first week exploring the story Handa’s Surprise. The book has captured the children’s imaginations and sparked lots of exciting learning.

On Monday, they enjoyed tasting a variety of fruits featured in Handa's Surprise; including mango, passion fruit and pineapple. They were keen to share their thoughts, compare flavours and talk about their favourites (ask them which one they liked the best)!

Throughout the week, the children have been exploring the story through a range of activities, developing their communication, creativity and understanding of the world. We have loved seeing their enthusiasm and curiosity, and they are already very excited to continue our learning journey with this topic over the coming weeks!

Well done, Reception, for such a fantastic start to the half term! Keep shining, little stars!🌟

4J had a fantastic day at Haye Farm this week getting up close with cows and sheep, feeding the chickens, and showing off their creativity by making different farm animals out of clay. It was a fun-filled day of learning, exploring, and hands-on experiences that we will all remember.

📊✨ Year 3 Maths in Action! ✨📊

Our fantastic Year 3 pupils have been exploring statistics! They’ve been learning how to collect data, organise it, and present it clearly.

The highlight of the week was creating their very own bar charts 📈 — from choosing categories and gathering information to carefully labelling axes and scaling their results. The children showed great enthusiasm and attention to detail while interpreting their data and answering questions about what their charts show.

We are so proud of their hard work and growing confidence with handling data. Well done, Year 3 — future statisticians in the making! 👏🎉
