Couples won’t solve what they can’t see.

The Space Between¼ Approach reveals what’s really wrong.

“I don’t care anymore.”

Sometimes the love has gone, but sometimes somebody has cared, explained, argued and hoped for so long that they no longer have the energy to keep doing it.

So they stop asking.
They stop reacting.
They stop trying to be heard.

Their partner thinks things have finally calmed down but calm after years of conflict isn’t always peace.

Sometimes it’s emotional exhaustion. Sometimes it’s numbness. Sometimes it’s somebody quietly giving up on ever being understood.

Don’t mistake the absence of protest for the presence of happiness đŸ«¶

To the woman standing at the beginning of her separation and divorce journey

I see you ❀

I see the fear you are carrying beneath your beautiful brave face.

The fear of what happens next, the fear of getting it wrong, the fear of being alone, the fear of hurting people you love and the fear that one day you might look back and wonder whether you made the right decision.

I know how frightening it is to step away from the life you know, even when that life no longer feels right for you.

There will be moments when you question everything. Days when you feel strong and clear, followed by days when the grief knocks the air from your lungs. You may miss what was familiar without wanting it back. You may love somebody and still know you cannot continue living as you were.

None of that makes you weak or confused.

It simply makes you beautifully human 😍

This journey will ask for honesty, the kind that reaches beyond the surface of what everybody else thinks you should do and brings you to the depths, face-to-face with what you already know.

It will ask you to trust yourself again.

Not because you have every answer and not because you can see exactly how life will unfold but because you know you can meet whatever comes with dignity and self respect.

You may not be certain about the future, but you can become certain about yourself.

Certain that you will handle the conversations, certain that you will find your feet financially and emotionally, certain that you can survive the chaos, the paperwork, the tears and the mess and certain that even when you wobble, you will not abandon yourself.

There is strength in that.

Not the kind of strength that never cries, never doubts and never falls apart. The real kind, the strength that lets the tears come, tells the truth and still gets up the following morning.

And amongst it all, keep allowing yourself to find joy.

In the quiet cup of tea, in laughter that catches you by surprise, in music playing while you make dinner, in your children’s faces or in a walk, a deep breath or the first moment you realise you have gone an entire hour without thinking about it.

Joy does not mean you did not care. It does not disrespect what you shared or what you have lost. It is proof that your life is still here, waiting for you to live it.

One chapter has been written. It mattered. It shaped you. It held love, pain, memories, lessons and versions of you that deserve to be honoured.

And now, that chapter is ending

The pages ahead may be blank, but they belong to you.

Write them honestly. Write them bravely. Fill them with people who feel safe, choices that feel true and moments that remind you who you are.

Then one day, when you are an old lady looking back over the story of your life, I hope you smile at the woman you are today.

The woman who was terrified but trusted herself.

The woman who walked into uncertainty without knowing exactly where it would lead.

The woman who chose to believe that an ending could also be the beginning of something beautiful.

Go and make the next chapter a bloody good read! 💋

With all my love,
Naomi đŸ«¶đŸ–€

One of you is asking, “Do you still desire me?”

The other is asking, “Can I be close to you without owing you something?”

That’s how couples become trapped in a painful cycle.

The more one initiates, the more the other withdraws. The more they withdraw, the more rejected and unwanted their partner feels.

Eventually, even a cuddle carries pressure.

More s*x won’t automatically create intimacy, and avoiding s*x won’t resolve what has made it feel so difficult.

The way forward begins with understanding what s*x, affection and rejection have come to represent for both of you đŸ«¶

“We don’t know how we’ve ended up here.”

It is the sentence almost every couple we work with says.

Sometimes it sounds like

“I cannot believe this is where we’ve got to.”

“We never used to be like this.”

“I don’t understand how we went from being so close to barely being able to talk.”

They didn’t deliberately choose the distance and they didn’t decide to become housemates, lose affection or get trapped in the same argument.

It happened gradually. Through the moments that were misunderstood, the things that became harder to say, the hurt that became defensiveness and the reaching that became pressure.

The overwhelm now has become silence between you and now two people who still love each other no longer know how to reach each other.

We’ve been creating something for those couples.

And on Monday, we’re going to show you đŸ€

SAVE this and FOLLOW us so you don’t miss it đŸ«¶

You’re not always having the same argument, even when you’re using the same words.

One of you is arguing about what was said and the other is reacting to what it meant to them.

So “You didn’t text me” becomes an argument about phones but underneath it, somebody feels unimportant.

The washing up becomes an argument about chores but underneath it, somebody feels taken for granted.

You keep trying to solve the surface issue while the real hurt remains completely untouched and that’s why the same argument returns again and again and again wearing a different outfit đŸ«¶

You are going to seriously p*ss certain people off when you start saying no to them
 😆

Today, I heard the word “abusive” used.

Why?

Because somebody was told NO.

Because behaviour they believed should go unchallenged was challenged.

Because another person refused to keep giving them their own way simply because they were not used to being told otherwise.

And we absolutely should be calling this out.

You do not get to use the word “abuse” as a weapon against somebody because they stopped complying with you or dared to disagree.

You do not get to publicly position yourself as the victim simply because another person finally stood up to you.

You do not get to call somebody cruel, controlling or abusive every time they refuse to behave exactly as you expect them to.

Sometimes you are not being abused.

Sometimes you are being challenged.

Sometimes somebody is holding you accountable.

And sometimes you are simply hearing a word you have spent your life making sure nobody says to you

NO.

That discomfort is yours to manage.

Your anger at being told no does not make somebody else’s boundary abusive.

Your version of events does not automatically become the truth because you tell it loudly or tell it to more people.

And throwing serious words around without justification is not harmless.

It can damage reputations, relationships and families.

It also takes language that exists to describe genuine harm and uses it to silence anybody who refuses to submit to you.

Nobody should be protected from being challenged simply because they react badly to it.

If somebody threatens, intimidates, humiliates, controls or deliberately harms you, call that behaviour what it is.

But if somebody simply disagrees with you, refuses your demand or stops abandoning themselves to keep you happy, do not call them abusive because the word “no” wounded your sense of entitlement.

So this is for the people pleasers and the people who have spent far too long saying yes

You are allowed to say NO to somebody who dislikes hearing it.

Their reaction does not retrospectively turn your boundary into abuse.

And sometimes becoming the “bad guy” in somebody’s story is simply the price of refusing to let them keep getting their own way.

It is a price I will happily pay. đŸ™ŒđŸ«¶đŸ–€

You’ve had the whole conversation. You’ve explained what annoyed you, repeated what they said and described how unhappy you feel.

Your friends have agreed with you, validated you, confirmed that your partner is in the wrong and you’ve gone home even more certain that you’re the innocent one.

There’s just one problem
Your partner wasn’t part of the conversation.

They don’t know how you feel.

They haven’t heard what hurt.

They don’t even realise the relationship has been discussed, judged and found guilty elsewhere.

Friends can offer valuable support but they only hear the version of the relationship you give them.

They cannot repair what is happening between you and your partner cannot respond to a truth you only share with everybody else.

Talking around your relationship will never replace talking within it đŸ«¶

Your partner can love you, support you, reassure you and care about what you’re feeling.

But they cannot spend their whole life saying the right thing, responding immediately and behaving exactly as you want so that you can feel okay.

That isn’t emotional safety.

That’s one person becoming responsible for the entire emotional atmosphere of the relationship and slowly losing the freedom to be human within it.

Support from your partner matters but a healthy relationship also asks you to understand your own reactions, communicate what is happening and take responsibility for yourself.

You cannot create closeness by asking another person to abandon themselves to keep you comfortable đŸ«¶

Our work is moving more deeply into couples work because most of us crave the same thing

Not simply a relationship but OUR person.

The one we love, who loves us.

The person we can come home to, not only through the front door, but inside ourselves.

The one we can take the armour off with, exhale beside, be silly with, be quiet with and be completely ourselves with.

The person who gently challenges us, but who we know will always have our back.

The one we laugh with until our stomach hurts, cry with when life feels too heavy, sing badly with, dance around the kitchen with and fall asleep beside.

The person we cannot wait to tell when something happens, even when it is something small that nobody else would understand.

Someone to share our days with. To sit and snuggle with, to make plans with, to dream alongside and to look towards the future with and feel excited about everything still waiting for us there.

To be able to say, “This is how I feel,” and know it is safe. No moods, no shouting, no doors slamming, no storming out and no lying awake wondering whether honesty has just cost us the connection. Just two people who can speak, listen, repair and find their way back to one another, even when the conversation is difficult.

To be loved so deeply that the hardest days feel a little lighter because we do not have to carry them alone.

To be their person and to know, without having to question it, that they are ours.

That is what we want for couples.

And moving further into couples work does not mean leaving behind our work with men or women because every relationship holds two individuals. Two histories. Two inner worlds. Two sets of fears, hopes, wounds and ways of protecting themselves.

Our work is with all of you.

The couple.
The woman.
The man.

Those who want more than simply staying together and existing.

Those who want connection, joy, peace, honesty, safety and a love that still feels like somewhere they can come home to.

You are our people.

If you love each other but have lost your way to one another, come and talk to us. We now have two ways to work with us: our four week intensive and our full 12 week programme.

And if you are not ready for that yet, start with our Space BetweenÂź Starter Guide for Couples.

Forgiveness is not a shortcut around accountability.

It doesn’t mean the hurt has disappeared or mean that trust instantly returns and it certainly doesn’t mean the person who was hurt is no longer allowed to ask questions, feel angry or talk about what happened.

You cannot rush somebody’s forgiveness simply because facing the consequences of what you did feels uncomfortable.

Real repair makes space for their pain.

It answers the difficult questions.

It accepts that trust may return slowly.

And it shows change consistently, not just until the argument is over.

“I said sorry, what more do you want?” isn’t repair.

It’s impatience with somebody else’s pain đŸ«¶
