In March 2026, we had a follow-up session at Loders CE Primary Academy in Dorset as part of our Little Green Change Climate Resilient Schools Project. This followed on from our previous visit when the children completed our climate resilient schools audit with us to recognise the great changes their school had already made, and to identify additional improvements that we could make together. The agreed changes included:
- Adding pollinator and child-friendly plants to their site including diversifying the flowers in their existing bulb lawn. We added tulips, daffodils and crocus to extend the flowering period in this area.
- A new wildlife habitat in the form of a bird nest box chosen by the children.
- 13 gardening hand trowels and gardening gloves for their new Eco Club.
- Heat reflecting window tints for south, east and/or west facing windows to help keep these parts of the school building cooler in the hottest months.

Working with Little Green Change, the children have learnt about climate change and the many impacts this has on humans and nature, as well as empowering them to implement positive, practical changes that help reduce these impacts within their school grounds.

Thanks to our Climate Resilient Schools Project funder, Dorset Council, for making these changes possible.

Community Seed and Plant Swap Comes to Kidderminster’s Riverside Heritage Site

Local residents and gardening enthusiasts are invited to take part in a Seed and Plant Swap event on Sunday 3rd May, set in the natural riverside surroundings of the historic Townshend Works.

Hosted by Incredible Edible Kidderminster and supported by Community Housing, the event will take place at Jelleyman's Heritage Arts Charity (JHAC), Townshend Works, Puxton Lane, Kidderminster, DY11 5DF.

The event offers an opportunity to exchange seeds and plants, share practical growing knowledge, and connect with others interested in making better use of local green spaces. Alongside the free seed swap tables, there will be stalls from local organisations and growers, as well as free refreshments available throughout the day.

Family-friendly activities will also be provided by Chris Millington from the Local Gardener Initiative, helping ensure that people of different ages can take part and learn something new.

Set beside the River Stour within the grounds of the former carpet factory, the venue reflects a wider focus on bringing new purpose to local heritage spaces while encouraging more sustainable habits.

Incredible Edible Kidderminster is part of a wider UK movement that aims to turn towns into places where food is grown and shared more openly. The group supports planting projects across Kidderminster, including in public spaces such as streets, schools, and transport areas, where residents are able to pick produce for free.

A spokesperson for Incredible Edible Kidderminster said:
"This event is about building connections within the community, sharing knowledge, and encouraging people to think differently about how and where food can be grown."
