The children enjoyed hunting for eggs around the garden. They were so good at matching the patterns on the eggs to their tick sheet. There was some impressive counting and subitising of the eggs too 👏

It's a magical time to be farm based. Meet Lady and Lucky! We went to say hello to these 2 lovely Shetland lambs this morning and then had a lovely time in the garden 🐑🐑

The children helped water the various flowers and plants that we have been growing and we talked about how important this is, as we haven't had rain for a while. The children also loved making 'hop little bunny' sounds with the instruments and enjoyed some sand and water play too 😀

Here's a little snippet of some of the things we've been up to in the garden recently. The children have been enjoying the sunny weather and have been demonstrating their independence and inquisitiveness. It's always a joy to see them exploring the outdoor environment and taking such an interest in the living things around them and the natural world 💚

An exciting visit to the farm today, as we met the first of this year's lambs 🐑

💚🐸 Frog Life Cycle 🐸💚

As we excitedly await the arrival of lambs on the farm, we have been learning more about lifecycles, including those of sunflowers and frogs. The children have been fascinated by tadpoles and frogs, so we set up our own 'pond' for them to investigate. The children loved the sensory experience of the 'frogspawn' and enjoyed searching for frogs. Outside, the children enjoyed painting frogs with watercolours and feeding 'flies' to the 'frogs'!

📚Happy World Book Day 📚

We all LOVE books here at Little Foxes, which is great, as they play a crucial role in the early years.

Julia Donaldson is a particular favourite with the children, so we had a Gruffalo sensory story tray to explore today. The children have also been using watercolours too, as they became illustrators, as well as readers.

Throughout the week, we have been bringing in our favourite books from home and finding our favourite spot to read in. The children have been sharing their amazing read counts from home too.

Outside, the children were busy growing their own (magical) beanstalks! We'll continue to water them to see what happens next... 💚
