Between holidays, keeping the children entertained, fitting in some tutoring and attempting to declutter the house, there hasn’t been much time to just stop.

So today I’m taking a little time to wind down with a cuppa β˜•, a good book πŸ“š and absolutely no guilt about doing very little for a while!

So far this summer I’ve managed to read The Husbands, Unravelling Oliver, Atmosphere and The Nightingale πŸ“–βœ¨ Now the only decision is… which one from the pile is next? ✨

😴✨ I loved taking part in World Sleep Day with my pupil today.

πŸ›οΈπŸŒ™ We explored good and poor sleep hygiene by sorting different items and talking about which habits help us get a great night’s sleep and those that don’t.

🧠 We learnt all about why sleep is so important for growing bodies and minds.

β˜οΈπŸ’€ We also discussed things we can do during the daytime to help us sleep well at night and created a beautiful sleep hygiene cloud filled with ideas about what makes a good night’s sleep.

πŸ“šπŸ°πŸŒŒ To finish our learning, we enjoyed some lovely night-time themed stories, including one of my absolute favourites, The Rabbit, the Dark and the Biscuit Tin.

πŸ’™ A calm and fun way to learn about taking care of our bodies and minds!

✨As I finish my NPQ SENDCO qualification next month and become a qualified SENDCO, I’ll be starting another year of study working towards my Level 7 Dyslexia Assessing Course at Edge Hill University.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ«I’m really excited to keep developing my knowledge and skills so I can better support learners with dyslexia, helping them access the right support and guidance they need to thrive.

🧠Every learner deserves to understand how they learn best and I’m passionate about helping dyslexic learners get the right help, confidence and opportunities to succeed.

Another busy year of studying ahead, but I can’t wait for the challenge! πŸš€

🧠🧑✏️A great multi sensory activity I made and used today for our phonics.πŸ”‘

πŸ” Find It: I start by having the child reach into a bag to find an object.

πŸ”„ Match It: Once they pull it out, they match it to a picture that shows what the object is.

🎨 Make It: Next, we get creative! They can build the letters using magnetic letters, blocks or playdough!

✍️ Write It: Finally, I encourage them to write down the word using their phonics.

Multi-sensory learning is super important because it engages different senses, helping children remember better and make connections. This not only boosts their confidence but also builds a strong foundation for their reading and writing skills. πŸ”–βœοΈ

🧠🧱 πŸ‘€ Mak it multi-sensory, make it fun!
