We’ve been working with so many singers recently on the subject of confidence - that fortifying feeling that can sometimes be so elusive just when you need it for a performance or audition?
There are many tricks in the singing teachers bag for this- have you tried 7:11 breath techniques to regulate your oxygen/ carbon dioxide levels to create mental clarity? Visualisations with tapping techniques to help process vocal anxieties? We also work with the use of the eyes - where to look in a performance to feel comfortable and how to be your own best and fairest critic- not relying on the audience solely for feedback. Performance can often be marred by anxious thoughts and gloom but should be a time for your ‘inner race horse’ to run to the winning line and show brilliance. Performance anxiety is a thing. And it can be a thing of the past. Self care for a performer is a necessity to learn as a pupil and easy to self implement.
