Shelley O'Regan: I have been childminding for almost twenty years and I have four grown up children of my own. I offer a professional, loving, secure 'home from home' environment with ample learning activities and opportunities. I am an OFSTED registered childminder and gained an 'Outstanding' grading in my last inspection. I am a member of PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years), I belong to Keynsham's Childminding Group and the B&NES Childminding Network. I am also involved in Community Childminding, providing childcare for families with additional needs.
'The childminder monitors all aspects of her practice, and is constantly striving for excellence. As a result, she delivers exceptional practice'- Ofsted Report 2013
I have gained extensive training and qualifications centred around children over my career and I am currently studying a diploma in Child and Adolescent Counselling. My desire to learn and improve means I take regular training to enable me to provide the best I can offer for the children I care for. I have varied experience in working with families who have a special/specific need and pride myself on having positive relations with the families I work with, keeping open lines of communication and understanding parents preferences and wishes. I have completed a SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) 'Local Offer' as part of the Children and Families Act 2014. Detailing the support and services I can offer in my childminding practice. All my achievements and Local Offer can be viewed in my portfolio which is available to look through at my first meeting with parents. Alongside my work I am a keen gardener, knitter and patchwork quilter and love time spent with my family
Laura Corfield: I have been Shelley's part-time childminding assistant for the last six and a half years. Now that I have a young son of my own (Arthur) I want to focus full time on childminding and I am working towards becoming fully registered. Having been in a home childminding environment since age eight I know first hand what a lovely, safe and educational experience it can be for children. Something I would like to provide for other families as well as my own. I completed my 'Introduction to Childminding Practice' course late 2014 and I'm continuing with the registration process, hoping to be registered a.s.a.p. Once I am registered I will continue to work alongside Shelley in her home setting but I will now be responsible for the care of my own childminding children as their key person. Alongside childminding I co-directed a company called 'Shift Bristol'. Shift Bristol educates adults in lots of skills including; permaculture design, green building, growing food, community, renewable energy and more. I am passionate about connection with and stewardship of nature and building community. These are themes I would like to include in my childminding work, supporting children to explore, play and learn with natural materials and mediums in the outdoors. As a team we try to offer consistent wrap-around care all year round; covering each other's holidays and sick leave.
