Jenny Schofield Music

A few months ago a student contacted me who I taught from 2010 - she did Grades 1-8 flute with me and then went off to Uni to become a doctor. She has now finished her course and wanted to get back into playing, so we have done a few online lessons and tonight she came for an in person lesson as she was home seeing her parents. (Her mum looked after Benjy when I first started teaching again after having him!)

It was wonderful. Seeing her again, playing duets we played years ago and reminiscing about lessons! Also talking about how amazing muscle memory is in terms of music!!!

There are times when I am reminded how lucky I am to be able to do what I do, and how amazing my job is. Every day is good, but today has been particularly brilliant!

A very hectic end of term with GCSE recordings, exams and a concert for my private students. Illness meant a few had to miss it but it was a fantastic evening showcasing the hard work and talent of my students!

I am always proud of every student who takes a music exam with me, and have been fortunate to have some excellent results this year……..but this one is special.

This particular student is 80 in November, and she has just got a merit for her Grade 1 piano exam. She started as a complete beginner (not only to piano but to music entirely) a few years ago and has worked so hard. She was incredibly nervous to do her first ever music exam, but is thrilled she did it!

I am a singing teacher and vocal/confidence coach in Lakenheath, and I have some 1:1 sessions available for adults, homeschoolers and college students wanting lessons during the school day.

I have nearly 20 years experience teaching at schools and privately in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.

Lessons cover vocal technique and health, performance skills and anxiety, breath control, expanding vocal range and repertoire, and having fun with your singing.

Lessons are for all ages and I can work towards exams if required. I have helped over 300 students prepare for exams and have a 100% success rate.

A mini exam session resulting in two of my students achieving some of the highest marks I have had as a teacher: 143/150 and 139/150! So proud of them all for fitting in a final exam! 🎉🎉

Tonight's Spring Concert is a celebration of love songs and we hope those with tickets have a wonderful evening. We'll also be saying a sad farewell to some of our amazing Year 11 musical talents 🎶♥

Final working morning of the year, another music session at the Probation Service.

Something a bit different today - at Ipswich Probation Service leading a music workshop for people recently released from prison and/or on a Community order. Not the easiest gig but ultimately very fulfilling!

Music is also therapy - at least it was tonight for my 79 year old piano student who has had a rough few weeks!!! Music lifts your spirit!

Final lot of certificates to be presented from the Summer - piano ones this time, most of them I don’t teach anymore as they have moved school but they all seem to be continuing with lessons which is excellent!
