Parents should not have to become experts in SEND law simply to secure appropriate support.

Yet families are often expected to understand complex legal tests, statutory timescales and appeal processes while caring for a struggling child.

I can explain your options in plain language and support you through each step.

Children can be cruel about differences, and watching your child be laughed at, excluded or misunderstood can break your heart.

Children notice difference. The way the adults around them talk about it matters.

We can teach them that asking a respectful question is better than staring. That different communication is still communication. That headphones, movement, additional support or behaving differently are not reasons to exclude somebody.

Difference should never become a punchline.

Educate early. Model kindness. Include always.

“Support when needed.”

It sounds reassuring—but who decides when it is needed, how often it will happen and who will provide it?

Vague wording can leave families uncertain about what their child will actually receive.

If you have received a draft EHCP, don’t assume it is good enough simply because support has been mentioned. I can review it carefully and identify wording, needs or provision that may require strengthening.

Why are we always teaching children to fit in?

Sit still. Make eye contact. Use a quiet voice. Cope with the noise. Follow the same routine. Respond in the expected way.

What if we spent more time teaching the world to understand different communication styles, sensory needs and ways of learning?

Inclusion isn’t making every child behave in the same way.

It’s creating a world in which different children can participate, learn and belong without pretending to be someone else.

Educate. Adapt. Include.
