We have had a very busy week. We read the story of “Shark in the Park” and enjoyed lots of different learning activities.

We learnt about Jackson Pollack and had amazing fun when we created splatter paintings in the garden. It was important that we wore wellies and an apron but some of us still got covered in paint!

We enjoyed play-dough, which strengthens our fingers and have continued to explore colour when we used the painting table.

All the staff were very proud of us when we went for our first PE lesson in the hall. We had to walk through school in a very sensible line and everywhere we went, school staff commented on how fabulous we were!

This week we have explored the story of “Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see?” We enjoyed listening to the story and we were very good at recalling all the animals from the story. During carpet time we continued to remind ourselves about preschool rules.

In provision we sorted coloured pom-poms using tweezers and tongs to strengthen our fingers, made potions with natural ingredients in the garden and explored paint mixing in a large tray with different plastic pattern spatulas.

We have had another busy week of fun and learning at preschool this week. We have continued to embed our routines and following instructions, whilst also sharing our family photos. We have used “The Big Book of Families” to help explore how families are different.

In provision we used scissors in the play dough to develop our fine motor skills, we used glue to create masterpieces and moved up, over and round the equipment in the garden. We have also enjoyed using our revamped reading area!

We have continued to welcome our new friends to preschool this week. We have enjoyed getting to know each other and continuing to learn about how to use all the resources in our provision. We have also particularly enjoyed sharing our family photos this week.

We have also been singing nursery rhymes, lots of them are our favourites already!

We have had yet another very hot week at preschool and have endeavoured to keep everyone as cool as possible.

We have been very busy inside. The marble run has been a very popular activity with the children working together to create different structures.

The children have also been mark making in a variety of different ways using paint, whiteboard pens and shaving foam.

We had a cooler week at preschool last week. We have begun to talk about starting school with our preschool leavers this week in time for transition day on Monday. The children are excited to see their new classes.

We have explored inside provision and outside, all children have been sharing activities and making memories. We have been learning some new songs too. Last week in PE we used some large equipment to practice our climbing and basketball skills.

We had another busy week last week, based around the story of Rosie’s Walk. We talked about what she saw on her walk and the prepositions past, under, over and through. We then worked in small groups to see if we could create a map for our journey to preschool. The children did amazing and loved talking about traffic lights, bridges, wind turbines, trees and roundabouts that they saw on their journey.

We enjoyed playing in the garden and more practise of sports activities.

We also enjoyed some music carpet time, which involved us singing some new songs and using the instruments. We loved drumming and clapping with our hands and copying rhythms.

This week we have explored the story of The Gingerbread Man. We read and joined in with the story and used ginger scented playdough to make our own gingerbread men.
In PE we continued to practise sports day skills. We used our fine motor skills to practise moving nuts and bolts and completed jigsaws. In music we practised listening to a new song and tapping the syllables in our name on a drum.

Another busy week at Little Explorers this week! We have explored the book ‘Rosa Explores Lifecycles’. We talked about the frog lifecycle briefly and recapped the lifecycle of a butterfly from our previous work. The children also talked about the chicks that hatched from the eggs before Easter.

The children have loved looking at the baby photos that were kindly sent in, if there are anymore then we will continue to share these next week. The children loved guessing who was who, the adults also brought their baby photos in too and the children we amazed how different we looked. It was especially tricky to decided which baby photo belonged to which adult!

Due to our Y6 children completing their SATs this week we were unable to have the hall, so instead Mr T came to do some cosmic yoga all about Arnold the Ant. We all tried to be very flexible!

We have continued to develop fine motor skills: snipping straws with scissors and also creating artwork with fly swats in the garden. We mixed together water and chia seeds to create some ‘frog spawn’ which we enjoyed holding, pouring and touching in the tray.

This week we explored the story of “A good place”, about insects and minibeasts trying to find a good place to live. We have loved looking for insects in the garden and collecting things in beakers, the best places were under rocks, tyres and boxes in the mud kitchen.

We have continued with PE and this week, Mr T introduced some ball skills to us. We all had fantastic listening ears again and the adults were very proud.

We have used our observational skills too, creating pictures of tulips.

We are also very impressed with the growth of our bean plants, we have been watering them well and making sure they get lots of sunshine.
