Los geht's! Today we were delighted to send off our first German Pupil Course group on their cultural immersion adventure! These German learners are travelling to Erlangen in Bavaria for 2 weeks and are ready to experience German culture and language. Gute Reise und viel Spaß! ✈️🌞

Join Pearson at our Summer 2026 network event at Keswick School in Cumbria on Tuesday 7 July 2026 (4-5:30pm). These events are face-to-face opportunities for teachers delivering the new Pearson Edexcel GCSE (2024) in French, German and Spanish to come together and connect with colleagues from local schools to compare approaches, share good practice, and explore future collaboration and partnerships.

Good news! We are officially back! 🥳

The National Consortium for Languages Education (NCLE) is proud to announce continued support from the DfE to expand our reach across the regions. During 2026 – 2027, NCLE will be strengthening system leadership for languages through our established and highly effective Strategic Learning Networks (SLNs). Building on the successful outcomes from our National Priority Projects (NPPs), we will be welcoming new schools to join one of two new Priority Projects focusing on AI and Intercultural Learning centrally led by experts from NCLE and UCL Institute of Education. Through our evidence-based online learning platform, LEO, Language Educators Online, we will be supporting and developing the introduction of the revised Programme of Study for languages, refreshing and co-constructing our curriculum, working with our innovative and experienced Network Leads.

Imagine if every student who wished to study A-level German could do so in their own sixth form.

Across the country, many students reach the end of their GCSE German journey only to find that progression to A-level is not possible. The National German A-level Class (NGAC) aims to ensure that students who wish to continue with German can do so, regardless of their school’s individual circumstances.

The Goethe-Institut UK, in collaboration with Languages for All, is inviting schools to join a pilot of the National German A-level Class (NGAC) - a collaborative model designed to make A-level German viable and accessible, no matter the cohort size. A-level German is delivered jointly by the partner school teacher (in person) and the NGAC teacher from the Goethe-Institut UK (live online).
