Please watch this episode if you have a minute and hopefully it will shed some light on how you view calorific value of our restaurant meals on the menus.

Take home messages:

1. These values should be taken as a guide and not absolute number.

2. We need to consider the calorific content in relation to the overall nutritional value of a meal. For example, how much contribution a meal makes towards our daily vitamin and mineral requirements?

The Natural Resources Institute - University of Greenwich was pleased to have hosted Guinness World Records world’s greatest living explorer yesterday! He shared his near 70yr story of exploration & record breaking. Sir Ranulph’s can-do attitude & astounding resilience have seen him achieve feats no one else has before, raising approx. £20m for charity in the process. His inspiration for all his exploits: motivation & faith! What better way to get our new students fired up for the new year!

The BSc Food Science and Nutrition, at the University of Greenwich on the Medway Campus in Kent, is an exciting new undergraduate degree course designed to prepare students for a career in the rapidly expanding UK’s food and drinks sector. Building on the well-established experience within the university’s Natural Resources Institute (NRI), the programme is also supported by the new cutting-edge Medway Food Innovation Centre and a new Food Laboratory, in addition to initiatives such as the Food Accelerator Project to support businesses.
