We’ve had such a lovely time at our Little Classroom holiday classes.

What I love most is giving both home-educated and school children the opportunity to continue learning, building confidence and making progress throughout the holidays.

I know how difficult it can be for children to return to school or get back into a routine after a long break. Keeping children learning, engaged and practising their skills helps them to maintain their progress and makes that transition so much easier.

It’s amazing to see just how much children can learn in only two hours, both through focused learning with me and through play.

Seeing their confidence grow and watching them make progress is exactly why I love what I do.

It was such a lovely day full of holiday classes! It was wonderful to welcome so many new children and see how quickly they settled in and made new friends.

It was also amazing to see how much learning they got through. They all worked so hard and were eager to learn with me. How lucky am I to spend my days with such fantastic children?

I’ve had a few conversations today about the benefits of group tuition, and it reminded me why I’m so passionate about it.

One to one tuition is absolutely the right choice for some children, but for most, learning in a small group offers so much more.

Children learn best when they learn alongside others. They build confidence, share ideas, ask questions, solve problems together, and learn from different ways of thinking. They encourage each other, support each other, and even learn through disagreements. These are all such valuable life skills.

When parents understand and embrace the power of group learning, it’s so rewarding because we’re working together to help children thrive.

I love being on the same page as the parents of the gorgeous children I teach. Seeing the children grow in confidence and enjoy learning together is something really special.

I can’t believe we’re coming to the end of another school year.

Although I’ll still be teaching throughout the holidays because I’m so passionate about supporting children to continue making progress over the summer, I’ll also be reducing my hours so I can spend lots of precious time with my own children. They’re growing up far too quickly, and I don’t want to miss these moments.

It’s also coming up to two years since I officially left my teaching job after a truly horrific redundancy process.

If I could go back and speak to myself through all those tears, I’d tell myself this:

Everything is going to be okay. In fact, it’s going to be more than okay. It’s going to be amazing.

What felt like the worst thing to ever happen to me turned out to be one of the best.

Looking back, I genuinely loved my teaching career. But you don’t know what you don’t know. Since stepping into the world of business, I’ve discovered a whole new way of combining what I love with my strengths while having the freedom and flexibility I’ve always wanted.

I’m still in the early days of franchising Little Classroom, but I honestly couldn’t be happier with how things are progressing. The impact Little Classroom has had on my own life has been incredible, and I truly believe it can do the same for other teachers who are looking for something different without leaving behind what they love most, helping children learn and thrive.

Today I stepped out of my comfort zone because I felt ready. I felt confident, and I felt super happy and content with my life.

The tuition industry is such a friendly and supportive group of people, and that’s something I absolutely love. Today I also spoke on stage. To be honest, public speaking has never been my thing, but I did it, and I’m so proud of myself.

Not only that, but I got to have a waltz in Blackpool tower, something my mum did 50 years ago.

A day full of fun, learning, and making me. Thank you

Just a few little facts about Little Classroom.

If you’re a teacher or tutor who’s curious about what it’s really like to build your own tutoring business, I thought I’d share a behind-the-scenes look at my journey.

I only work 2 and half days a week!

Yes a garage can make a beautiful classroom.

No workplace politics, no stress, no drama!

A little secret I and been keeping.

Would you like to open your own little classroom?

I take huge pride in my classroom. Not only do I love teaching the children, but I also love that it’s my space. I don’t share it with another teacher, so I get to choose how it’s set up, what goes in it, and at the end of the day I can leave it exactly as I want it.

I work hard to make sure it’s well looked after, tidy, clean, organised, and fully replenished. Every child deserves to walk into an environment that gives them a sense of security, organisation, and a love of learning.

It’s funny because children love to play and they mix everything up, but they always put it all back. They respect the classroom because they know it’s a space that is cared for, and they take pride in looking after it too.

A reminder to all teachers that your skills go far beyond the classroom.

I know what it’s like to be that teacher, working full time and counting down the days until the summer holidays, feeling like they were the only chance to switch off and recharge.

This year feels completely different. Today, I’m a business owner who leads life on my own terms. I choose when I work, I have two days off every week, and I have the flexibility to build a life that works for me.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that teachers have far more choices than they often realise. The communication, leadership, organisation, problem solving, and people skills you use every day are valuable in so many different careers.

If you’re wondering what else is out there, don’t dismiss yourself before you’ve even explored the possibilities. Your experience is worth more than you think, and your next chapter doesn’t have to look like your current one.
