I am excited to tell you about our new project to bring trans, gender variant and non-binary awareness to the post-16 education sector.
We know our formative years are some of the most important. Feeling safe and nurtured are essential for good mental health and well-being at this time, and for successful learning.
And yet not all colleges and schools know how to support their gender variant learners. Many are ostracised and bullied by their peers - but worst is being excluded by well-meaning staff members trying to protect them. There are no winners in this scenario which unfortunately happens far too often.
TransEqual is in response to requests by colleges to Derek Hooper, an experienced college tutor and manager, and respected equality and diversity consultant. Derek approached me and together we’ve developed an exciting half day trans awareness course, along with ongoing support for college managers and staff.
We have commissioned from the fantastic production company Mygenderation a new DVD which is the centre-piece of a positive and practical workshop.
Do you know college staff who struggle to meet the needs of gender variant students? Are you working in a college which is not as trans-friendly as it might be? Are you unsure of what support is best? Are you a parent who can see your youngster is not happy at college?
We raise the trans awareness bar up, so colleges can do the right thing by trans, gender variant and non-binary students.
Feel free to contact either myself or Derek to discuss this. Your experience and needs will be unique and we want to offer you a tailor-made solution you can implement.
