This time of year there is so many colds, germs and viruses going around and lots of children have a runny nose.
As a parent its great to know when your child is unwell and shouldn't attend their childcare provider.

For Childcare providers I have popped a download on the free section of the website again for you, which could be displayed, printed or put maybe in your newsletter.
Although different settings have different policies and procedures this is a guide which many follow.

Introducing Nicki Parrett

I have been a registered Childminder since 2014, following 10 years as a nursery nurse.

I live in Paddock Wood with my husband and 2 adult children.

We have 2 cats and a dog.

I offer a home from home environment where children and families feel safe and cared for, and part of our extended family.

I hold public liability insurance and am a member of PWCMA.

Training & Experience:

I'm a qualified nursery nurse (CACHE).

I hold a valid Paediatric First Aid Certificate-updated every three years.

Safeguarding training.

DBS checks for everyone over 16 living at my house.

GDPR compliant.

ICO certificate.

NSPCC child protection training.

Rated GOOD in all areas at my last Ofsted inspection.

Hours:

My current working hours are Monday - Thursday 7:45 - 5:30 ( all year round )
Friday 7:45 - 4:00 (Term time only )

Hourly rates available on request.

I accept childcare vouchers and tax free childcare.

I provide government funded hours for all ages.

Typical Weekly Activities :

We meet every week with other Childminders in Paddock Wood and Tonbridge to socialise with other children in different settings and out and about.

We attend toddler groups for play, craft and music time.

We visit Soft Play centres like Larkabout , Monkey Bizz and Putlands.

I have a yearly membership for Bedgebury Pinetum where we go to have fun all year round.

It’s such a lovely place to explore. The Children have loved the Gruffalo Trail in the past.

At home the children enjoy structured play and fun time, baking cakes, craft sessions and music time.

We visit local parks, woodland walks and the lovely pond areas.

We also go on adventures with trips on the bus and trains; Garden Centres and Maidstone Museum.

Saying Goodbye is the Hardest Part — How do you say goodbye to someone who feels like part of your family? 😭

Today, I send a very special little one off ready to take on their next adventure — a child who has been by my side for over three years. Through seasons and milestones, through giggles and tears, through many firsts and fierce hugs.
People often think you get used to it in this job.
That after enough goodbyes, it gets easier.
It doesn’t.
Because childminding isn’t just a job. It’s life shared. It’s hearts opened. It’s becoming someone’s safe place, their everyday, their second home. And when they’ve been with you this long — when they’ve grown up right in front of your eyes — the goodbye aches in the most beautiful way.
They are ready. I’ve seen it in their confidence, their curiosity, their kindness.
But I’m not sure I ever will be.
So I hold the memories close — the muddy play, the whispered stories, the little hand that always reached for mine — and I remind myself: this is what love looks like. Letting go with pride, and with a very full heart.
Go shine, little one.
You are more than ready.
And I’ll never forget you. 🥹🫶🏻❤️
