You know you meet those people who are bubbling over with enthusiasm, bring amazing ideas to life and get friends and strangers involved with their challenge because of their contagious positivity?

Well, Becky embodies all of that! 🌞 🌟 🌻

Becky came to me whilst planning her Challenge 365 last year, sowing the seed for what was in store this year... She wanted to do all 214 wainwrights, 116 outlying fells, 17 lakes, 12 tarns, 6 fun things all in one year! Inside, I was thinking WOW this is a big challenge, and I am in absolute awe how she is taking it all in her stride! Becky has now ticked off 236 / 365 today, after our swim in Wast Water. πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

I have had the pleasure of guiding Becky for her modified Frog Graham round (tag team with Jenny Bushell Adventures ) and the swimming sections of her challenge this year. πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ Here's some pics from our wonderful Crummock end to end swim on Monday and Wast Water today.

It's been so much fun to support a small part of this challenge and to witness the ripple effects from what Becky created has been truly heart warming 🌊

Please do head over to Becky Christmas to see all the amazing things Becky is doing this year and chip in a few πŸ’Έ if you are able to.

P.s. Well be back soon for Wast water end to end... but may save that for next year πŸ˜…πŸ‘€

When did you last take a pause in nature? πŸƒ

I find slowing down and noticing what's around me fills me with joy. It pulls me out of my busy, anxious mind and brings me to the present, to what really matters. It orientates me and provides perspective, every time.

Join me, Becky and Sukanya for a day filled with connecting with nature, ourselves and each other. πŸ’š

What can nature teach us about ourselves?

Clue - a lot more than we realise!

What captures your attention when you step outside? How present are you really? And what feelings come up when you give them the space to feel them?

Understanding the 5 pathways to nature connection can help us develop our relationship with nature and with ourselves.

Sometimes the most powerful insights don't come from trying harder, they come from paying attention to what's around us.

Join us at the first ever Hike O Metrics event with .podcast and Becky Viccars in September to delve deeper πŸ’šπŸŒΏ

This has been genuinely life changing.
I'm so proud of myself.

These are just some of the words we had the privilege of hearing as part of the OUTSIDE2 , with the Windermere cohort coming to an end recently.

Alongside and Vicki Mccreadie -Outdoor Instructor/Cold water Swim Coach I had the pleasure of being a swim coach as a part of this UK wide study to see if cold water can support those with depression.

We observed so many beautiful moments that I will struggle to put into words. From individuals growing in confidence in the water, turning up on the lakeshore each week, connecting with others, noticing the beauty in nature, and expanding the edge of their comfort zone just a little each week.

With my own mental health challenges, cold water was one of the pieces of jigsaw that helped me find a way a back to myself. The water, the friendships, the commitment to turn up despite how I was feeling on the inside. Buoy 13 swimming 'club' community was such an anchor to me through those rough seas.

And so what a gift it has been to share the water with others and pass on knowledge of how to be in the water safely πŸ’™. I'm under no illusion it's a magic cure, but it was certainly one handy tool in my toolbox to help navigate those more difficult times.

Thankyou to Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, University of Portsmouth, Dr Heather Massey and Dr Mark Harper, and others for all your incredible work in making this vital research happen.

I look forward to reading the study and seeing where this research takes us next in the world of cold water swimming, connecting with nature and others. πŸ’šπŸ’™

What a gift it is to have this as my office ❀️

A few highlights from this week's outdoor work -

πŸ’™ Swim coaching with Caroline where we swam to Heron Island in Rydal. We chatted all the way there, admired the views and beautiful aspen trees dancing in the wind, then practiced some frontcrawl on the way back, which has come on leaps and bounds.

πŸ’š The first walk and swim combo (of many!) with Tracks&Dales: Outdoor Activities for the Mind for The Well community. The beaming smiles from those who got in the water was pretty special, even if the weather threw all seasons at us!

πŸ’œ Swimming with the wonderful Helen who I had the pleasure of taking her for her first wild swim, and there's been many more since! It's so special seeing her confidence grow in the water, building her knowledge how to swim safely and explore new swim spots.

🀯 What's not seen: me becoming allergic to replying to emails / admin / messages, cleaning many many bits of swimming gear, struggling to decide what size bucket to buy in the shop to store my swim equipment in, writing coaching plans, online meetings about future projects etc... it's not all outdoorsy glam, promise!

I feel super lucky to work and play in the outdoors and have had the enourmous privilege to build a connection to these wonderful outdoor spaces. It feels only fair to do my bit and join Trash Free Trails Trail ClTrash Free Trailss and Loughrigg tomorrow, then up in Keswick on Sunday. πŸŒΏπŸ’›

Hopefully see some new and familiar faces there!

Huge good luck to everyone taking part in The Great North Swim this weekend! πŸ’™

I have coached athletes taking part in the 10k swim and the Swim Run over the weekend. So if you see people running around in wetsuits this weekend - that's probably why 🀣.

Special shout out to Fiona who is taking part in her first ever Swim Run! After lots of training and using her experiences from Ultra running, I have no doubt she is going to have a fantastic time. Here's some photos from our guiding and coaching days out: a modified tadpole round across Buttermere and a mini Swim Run in Windemere. They have both been fantastic prep and provided lots of learning to adjust kit, pacing and fuelling and boost confidence for race day.

Hearing women's stories of resilience, stubborness and pure grit is always inspiring. This was no different at Coast And Trails Festival on . πŸ’œ

It was a privilege to be on stage with Carol Morgan, the first woman to complete the Winter Bob Graham Round unsupported. Her story is filled with mind boggling determination and truly encapsulates not giving up.

It was lovely to relive some Frog Graham moments whilst chatting with Mel, and hear all the incredible work that Due North do to support more women get out in the hills, and hearing about the West Coast Wanderers! β›°οΈπŸ’šπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Plus, it felt a real gift to watch Tahira's film, as well as other inspiring films from London Mountain Film Festival.

Thanks to for the lovely venue. I left feeling super inspired for future adventures, the little ones as well as the bigger ones. β˜€οΈ
