Our Level 1 Construction learners have been working hard to develop their joinery and bricklaying skills while gaining valuable experience of real-life site work!

They are currently laying footings, building retaining walls and erecting wooden fencing around our on-site wind turbine. Coming up, they will be developing their bricklaying skills further and learning to weld, with plans to create a metal gate and sign.

Great to see our learners building their skills, gaining practical experience and preparing for their future careers in construction.

A huge thank you to Mark from .hair for delivering a fantastic session with our learners today! ✨

Our hairdressing and barbering students along with our apprentices explored a range of curling, dressing and styling techniques, alongside different highlighting methods to create a variety of effects. 💇‍♀️

Sessions like these provide valuable industry insight and hands on learning opportunities, helping our learners develop their skills, build confidence and become salon ready professionals!

We’re looking forward to welcoming Mark back later in the academic year to help with our association of hairdressers and therapists (AHT) competition prep and world skills day! Thank you, Mark, for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us! 🙌

A really good day for our Motor Vehicle and Uniformed Services students today!!!

The students spent the day working with some of our local emergency services and partners.

The Fire Service brought along VR headsets which gave students a really interesting look at road and driving safety from a different perspective. Westmorland and Furness Council spoke to students about the NW Driver Scheme and Pass Plus, and what’s available to young and new drivers and our Motor Vehicle students also received a number of seized vehicles donated by the Police, giving them the chance to get stuck into some real practical work and the Northwest Ambulance team delivered CPR training, a vital skill!

A big thank you to everyone who came along and gave their time today. It was great to see our students getting involved and learning from people who do this work every day. 👏

A big welcome to Police Commissioner David Allen, Roads Policing Inspectors Jack Stabler and Holly Lockwood.
